Rear Axle 3.09

I have a 2008 H3 with a 4.56 rear. I had a Sequoia with a 4.10, I believe. Would anyone know why Chrysler stuck a 3.09 on the JGC??

Year and engine, transfer case, packages not stated...

Axle ratio isn't as important as overall gear ratio to include the transmission, transfer case etc. in any given grunt or cruise situation.

The '14 Hemi comes with 3.09, where with a 2.72 transfer case and 4.714 first gear, that's pretty low. The V6 and diesel are 3.45

Plus, strongly suspect some mileage issues played a part.

Unfortunately I forgot the overall crawl ratio.

I'd prefer a slightly lower rear ratio sometimes [0-60], but only if they widened out the ratios in the 8-speed so typical driving and cruising wouldn't suffer. Could be done on the Hemi without significant driveability but I suspect then they'd adjust it to start in 2nd gear unless sport mode were engaged for lower 0-60 time.

For crawling, try it in low and lock it in first with the paddles--thats pretty low.

Re: Rear Axle 3.09

Either the SRT rear diff and/or hemi/diesel rear diff R&P are the same size as Dana 60. I remember reading an article in JP about this. You might be able change R&P in rear but I am not sure about the front.

Why do you keep spouting this crap when you are proven wrong? I told you in the other thread that the dana 60 is a different size than any jeep axle yet you still continue to tell everyone that they are the same.
