I'm worried about the size of the gap between the rear passenger door and the rear of the vehicle. It might be slightly more now, or it might be the way it always was; I dont' know. Condolences to you. 24 year old hit me and immediately admitted it was his fault. I called 911. The officers were suprised that no one was yelling. I guess I kept my cool. Not happy about it, especially impact on future value.
Wow seems like you and I are in the exact same position. The guy who hit me immediately took fault too thankfully. I expect some back pain and neck pain, just based on how I feel now.

Re: Rear Ended this morning.

jgc4 and adam, I'm sure I don't have to tell you but if you have insurance, be sure to make good use of it, it should pay for the physical therapy, chiropractor visits, etc.

Thank Jeepers, I am hoping not have pain or need for it, but you never know what can happen.

It's unlikely they'd go off even in a high speed rear end collision. A higher chance they'd go off when you collided with the person in front of you, but they won't go off just because you had a frontal collision; airbags (at least new-ish ones) I think are designed to only go off when the vehicle is traveling at a certain speed or when the G's involved in the crash exceed a certain amount.

Like spyder said, even if you don't have pain now there's no telling if you might develop it. Better to nip it in the bud now, and the accident wasn't your fault so you're definitely entitled to it.

20MPH is a decent clip. Especially when the vehicle that's rear ending you is such a heavy vehicle. A Ram 2500 ain't no Honda Civic that's for sure.

True. I guess I didn't think of it that way. I just have to play the waiting game now with the other guys insurance company (which is USAA if anyone was wondering)

Re: Rear Ended this morning.

I scheduled a doctor appointment. The All State insurance adjuster for the guy who hit me called me and tried to give me $220 for medical. I said OK, and she goes OK, that take care of the medical. And I said you didn't make that clear, and NO IT DOESN'T, and I refused it then. She acts all kind and concerned but tried to trick me. b!tch!

Did you have to bring in your insurance at all because of PIP?

Re: Rear Ended this morning.

Don't talk to the other dude's insurance...let YOUR insurance company deal with them. Too easy to get into trouble if you talk yourself.

I hope you fair well with your situation and am glad you don't appear to be hurt. (good advise given to get checked, however)

I had a similar accident in my previous vehicle when it was only a little older than yours. The air bags did deploy because I was pushed pretty darn hard into the car in front of us. But it wasn't totalled...insurance paid $26K to fix it. Fortunately, the hit was square and there was zero frame damage. No injuries, either.

Re: Rear Ended this morning.

I had a guy pull out in front of me awhile back and we had limited tort ( cant sue,but rates were cheaper) and the agent actually said " You cant sue us " to me over the phone when we were arguing over the medical, never the less , We went back to Full Tort ( can sue) on all the cars we own.

Ins. agents are crap .... be expecting a call from them trying to get to admit fault
