Recall-recall...

What are the odds our 2012 GC has been hit with yet another recall. It never ends for us, yet we still love the brand, just not one of the lucky ones with this year model. We just recently brought out Jeep in for service to replace our short circuited driver's side vanity mirror, good thing that's all that happened. The light flickers intermittently. Ironically the part's been on back order, I wonder why

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV on Thursday announced two recalls that include nearly 570,000 sport utility vehicles worldwide.

"The largest recall involves more than 476,600 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from the 2011-12 model years. An estimated 352,831 of the vehicles are being recalled in the United States. Wiring in the vanity mirror of the impacted vehicles can short-circuit and start a fire."

Re: Recall-recall...

I've been expecting this one to happen because there clearly were issues with the original recall not being performed correctly.

While at first, recalls can be disappointing, honestly, they are a good thing because they recognize something needs to be fixed for safety or other reasons. Regulatory has gotten stricter on this stuff, so all of the manufacturers are issuing more of them than in the past. Which brings to mind the question...what was ignored in the past that couldn't be ignored today?

While I won't be thrilled with taking my Jeep back to the dealer, I am glad they are stepping and covering the repair versus issuing a TSB.

Re: Recall-recall...

The problem with our local dealer here on Long Island is that they tend to string us along with much delays in getting the recalled parts in for the updates. It's good that there are recalls and that Jeep is stepping up to the plate. It's frustrating when you can't locate an honest dealer who shows care in alleviating any ongoing issues and is equally great with followup. Our dealer was even supposed to call us back with a trade in quote as we prefer at this point to start fresh with a proven my16 or 17 edition, but they seem to get satisfaction at delaying us at all costs. In 3 years they have only agreed to offer a loaner one time on our behalf since the vehicle was not purchased through them. Anyone else here who has a Jeep dealer they'd like to recommend in the Long Island/NYC area would be greatly appreciated. Happy Holidays

I'm a little surprised it doesn't include 13s and 14s also as they also had the wiring job vanity mirror with flames problem also, unless I'm missing something here which is entirely possible.

Just wait for them to get around to admitting it.

Heh. I guess my "choosing which recalls to apply" thread wasn't that crazy after all.
