Re: Receiver hitch cargo carrier

Works great in a pinch when you're carrying stuff that you don't want in the trunk and don't want to pull a trailer. Caution on putting items that might be sensitive to heat in the area above the exhaust. You can deflect it or add a sheet to protect your items from the exhaust heat. I used the one from Harbor Freight btw.

Re: Receiver hitch cargo carrier

AAAA, I bought one while on vacation last summer from Northern Tool to help clear more space in the back of the JGC and provide better rear-vision while on the road. I've used it a number of times for other small hauling tasks, rather than hooking up my utility trailer or horse trailer. I spent a little more for this mostly aluminum unit, but am very happy with the quality and construction.

jeepinAl, I can open my tailgate with the carrier attached, even with that plastic container on it. But I do understand your angst...

This is the pro series cargo carrier. Fits perfectly. Lift gate has plenty of clearance. I added some reflective tape and the rola trailer lights for night time visibility. I picked this one for its dimensions. Very sturdy and has really served it's purpose well. Let me know if u need additional info.

Re: Receiver hitch cargo carrier

@JeepinAl: I was still able to open the rear hatch with the hitch carrier attached.

Heat is an issue particularly in the summer months. I bought mine from Harbor Freight as well (the aluminum one). Very handy for long trips or even camping trips.

Re: Receiver hitch cargo carrier

Thanks guys for the replies. I wasn't trying to stir the "flipper glass" pot again ( although somewhat fun to do), but with Hulk's profile view picture it's seems to be doable. Might have to give it another thought.

Jim, Hulk, what is the depth of yours? Many are 19" but my single stage snow blower is almost 20" wide. Thanks.
