Re: Recirculate Mystery Logic

I agree that this is an oversight and should be fixable with a software upgrade.
My previous Overland ('02) was always on Auto and it showed icons as to which vents were active plus I could recirculate at anytime, eg if I smelled fumes from other cars. Now that Blackpepper mentioned that the WK is the same, there is probably no fix comming.
To bypass the recirculate, I press the Off button to stop fumes from comming in and back to Auto when I want. Not ideal but that's how I overide it.

Re: Recirculate Mystery Logic

I'm pretty close to the Midtown and Battery, but not that close. And it happens on the way home too, when I've usually been driving for an hour plus. Either something is odd with my GC or I'm a mouth breather who requires constant defrosting. Next time I drive I'll experiment. Thanks for the thoughts.

@Joe: When you approach any of our tunnels, be very cautious if you see a dirty, red Laredo X with ORAII, a sunroof, and a shark fin antenna (well I should have it soon). There will be a heavyset mouth breather playing with his iPhone and fiddling with the climate control at the wheel. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Re: Recirculate Mystery Logic

I'm not so sure the Off button closes the vents. If it does, that's a great solution.

Re: Recirculate Mystery Logic

I have been wondering about this also. I can always get recirc to turn on initially but have been confused about why it turns off at seemingly random times. I usually don't notice it has turned off until its too late and I'm getting blasted with the smell of the bay at low tide or the Tropicana factory burning orange peels.

Re: Recirculate Mystery Logic

The HVAC logic (or lack thereof) in this truck baffles me. it sucks. My HVAC blower speed is all over the place.

I hear you...it's just a "new" behavior for some of us; our WJ's Recirc button simply works even with the system in Auto mode.

Having to "outsmart" a user interface, or get into complex rules that sounded good around a conference table but are unintuitive to users, is never a great thing, especially when it becomes a distraction to a driver.

I already hate you. Not for being a heavyset mouth breather but for not paying attention while driving

Re: Recirculate Mystery Logic

I am retracting my previous statements in this thread. Yesterday I got to Holland tunnel about 5 minutes after I started my car after it was parked on the street all day, so it was cold. Climate control was on Auto. When I got to the tunnel I tried to turn on Recirculation and lamp blinked a couple times and it didn't turn on. Then I switched to manual temp control and was able to use Recirc. After I got out of tunnel I switched back to Auto and later was able to use Recirc in Auto.

It seems that if you are in Auto and haven't reached desired temperature yet you are not able to use Recirc.
