Recovery\Bestop HighRock Recovery Hitch - pic

I just received my Bestop HighRock Recovery Hitch from Amazon, cost 32.37, D-Ring included. The finish seems to be pretty good and the construction is heavy duty. The fit could be better. As you see in picture it fits a little loose. I ended up taking an old motorcycle inner tube and stretched it over the end of it, now it fits pretty well and does not rattle around. I thought this might come in handy one day or at the very least keep people from backing into my bumper. I also picked up a Smittybilt Recovery Strap (3X30), rated 30,000 lbs, for 31.66.

I love Amazon.. Its quick, and with free two day shipping, you can't beat it. Question- What made you pick the HighRock over the Smittybilt receiver?

I read a review that the Smittybilt fit loose, so I went with the Bestop. I guess they both fit loose.

I think pretty much all hitches fit a little loose, I picked up a regular 2" one a while ago and there was a ton of play, I just wrapped electrical tape around a couple sections of it.

I wish someone would make one of these with a tight fit and also a regular trailer ball that also fits without extra play.

Tell me about it, I've been looking for a hitch, I came across a MasterLock unit which has a key in the side of the hitch, which when turned, pushes out two pins to lock it into the receiver, this more or less just makes it so you dont need a separate hitch pin/lock however I didn't see if it would be a tight fit in a 2". I doubt it, everything needs a little play just incase of slight changes in tolerance and then not fitting at all.

One very cool thing my new THULE bike rack has is an anti sway hitch, and how they do this is by having it threaded.. So their pin threads into the hitch through the hole on the receiver just like any regular pin, but its thread, thus locking it in place.. Then a lock goes on the end of the pin/threaded unit to make sure no one can unbolt and steal the bike rack/bikes etc.

Re: Recovery\Bestop HighRock Recovery Hitch - pic

i think they are all supposed to be slightly loose. most people just leave the hitch bar/ball in the receiver. over time, they lose some of their coating and will rust. my brother-in-law had a triple ball one get stuck in his receiver. it took hours to get it to free up.
