Re: Remote Start Comfort System

I remote started mine the other night, it was 37 degrees out. The heat, steering wheel and seats were all on, when I got in.

Re: Remote Start Comfort System

I have yet to see front defrost come on.

I have noticed that the blower runs on high until the door is opened at which point it returns to normal (whatever it is set at).

Depends on the outside temperature. If it is colder than 37 F or below, it will override your last settings and turn on the wheel/seats/defroster.

Re: Remote Start Comfort System

Hey all,

There has not been a post on this topic for a bit and had a question. Figure most of us know more about the Wk2 now.

I have a 2012 Overland. When I remote start the climate system comes on (only with the last settings I had on when I came home) but the seats, steering wheel, defrosters, none of that comes on in 'cold' weather.

I have had it come on before, but seems never again.

Now to be fair, I am in NorCal so 'cold' weather is not Minnesota cold weather, but we are at 35-45 degrees in the morning. That is cold enough to want your system to kick stuff on to have it nice inside.

How cold does it have to be to turn on all the seats and stuff? Manual is very vague....."when it is cold". Really?

I read a post that said 37 degrees. Honestly, that is sort of goofy. I mean, who at Jeep makes the decision what is 'cold' to someone? At 40-45 degrees my truck is super chilly in the morning.

Do you think this is a threshold the dealer can set? Or has to set? Seems it would be an easy EVIC setting. "Comfort System activates at: 35>40>45>50 degs"

Thanks much!

Re: Remote Start Comfort System

It would be nice if there was a hack for this.

I agree - although it would be nice if there was just a quick cheat sheet to say what comes on at what temperature, since it seems the temperature dictates what comes on.

What's wrong? The 4" thick owner's manual too much for you?

That book is ridiculous. In this day and age, why can't they write a book specific to your vehicle and its options? And why do they have to make it so long and wordy?

Re: Remote Start Comfort System

I always leave mine on AUTO and when it was cold in Vancouver ~ 2weeks ago
I'm pretty sure the front defrost was on and fan speed set to high with remote start comfort setting activated.
When remote starting with outside temp above freezing the fan speed was elevated but the front defrost was off, I can be wrong though.

Ah... you think I want a condensed manual. On the contrary, I want more information! When I said about wanting a cheat sheet I meant to include a chart in the manual about what is turned on and at what temperature.

But then I'm a "manual guy". Whenever possible I download a product's manual and read it before I buy, whether it's a car or washing machine or TV or whatever. There is so much functionality in most products these days that often the only way to discover all the features is to read the manual. I can understand those who like to be surprised and discover features by using the product but I like being able to buy the product and use it to its full potential right away. Plus there is something about being able to be the one to tell the dealer about the features of the vehicle - and in talking with some dealers it's obvious they've barely scratched the promotional material from head office, let alone read the manual.

Take out all the legal nanny stuff and you're left with four pages.
