remote start safety feature?

I was unloading some furniture yesterday from my jeep. when I was done I wanted to cool it off before I got back in, so I hit the remote start button. It only beeped once and the car wouldnt start. I tried it 3 times and no go.

I then remembered I had my hazards on. I figured let me turn it off and see what happens. Sure enough the remote start button worked after that. Who knew the remote starter wouldnt work if the hazards were on? you learn something new everyday.

Re: remote start safety feature?

Wont start if you have any door and hood open if im not mistaken.

Whenever wifey is putting my daughter in, i have to wait for her to close door so i can hit the remote start.

Re: remote start safety feature?

Also, if you're low on fuel or have check engine light....won't work either.

Too many mods to list for each, so let's just say a lot was done over the years.

Re: remote start safety feature?

Yes, the manual has a pretty long list of conditions that won't allow a remote start.

Now don't be silly....we all know that noone reads the manual. You might actually learn something if you did.

Re: remote start safety feature?

I wish the remote start had some sort of indicator on the remote. Never quite sure if the 2 clicks registered with the vehicle or not.

That's why you need a V8 Hemi --- so you can hear the ROAR upon starting!!!

Correct, no Remote Start with the hood open. I tried it.

Re: remote start safety feature?

First thing I did when I bought my first WK2 (2012 Overland), and now my 2014 Summit was turn off the honks when remote starting. I also turned off the power liftgate chime. All super annoying things. Glad we have the ability to control things like that.
