No, you're not wrong. That and quite a few folks have them around here. Though I'm not one to insist on a different look for image sake. But it's one in 100 to see a Cayenne. The X5 is still a nice vehicle and for the kind of mall crawling I've had the time to do in recent years, well, it'd be more than sufficient.
I'll say this, the new uConnect was among the best of the 'infotainment' systems I encountered during my search. The Q7's setup was probably 2nd, Buick's Envision likely next although I didn't drive it. The '17 PCM in the Porsche is markedly better than the previous generation, thus I'd be holding out for it. I mention this as the system in the BMW is about in the middle of the road, with requiring changing states to find street addresses. Kinda clunky when you live in a tri-state area. I have this in my '06 WK and never liked the restriction. But ALL of them were better than the abomination they put in the Mercedes.
I may be heading toward a two-vehicle solution. Given the infrequency with which I need to haul big/messy stuff I may just get a used crew cab pickup. Something like a Frontier with 4WD and a V6. That'd open the field a bit on my daily driver. I do still like having something SUV-like, so the Porsche Macan S may be a candidate. I can't quite see getting the Jaguar F-Pace. That and the interiors on the LR4 and Evoque weren't to my liking.
