Replacing Air Strut (Part II) Help!

Ok so, I am having both front struts replaced. I managed to bend one of them.

Now the dealer has quoted me $1800 parts+labor for one!!!
I know list price on the strut is $1215/ea. So, $600 for labor?!

Anyway, I want to take the Jeep somewhere besides the dealer. The place I was referred to says they will replace both struts and do 4 wheel alignment for $400 (labor only). This is much better, buuuutt, they say it is not necessary to recharge the system. I tried to explain that the system is closed-loop and that it WILL need to be recharged with Grade 5 Nitrogen.

Can anyone please help me out. I don't want these guys to get halfway through the work and realize they were wrong.

My questions are:

1. Does the system need to be recharged when replacing the front struts?
2. Should I just find another shop?
3. Should I just go to dealer with my own parts?
4. Is there any online material to show the procedure for strut replacement?

Thank you in advance!

1) Not necessarily. They need to have a diag tool which can do the proper routines -- deflate spring to reservoir. If they do, it's entirely possible to change it out without needing to charge the system again (depending on where it started)

2) See #1

3) Depends. They will for sure have the correct tools.

4) Chrysler's TechAuthority website has all that info and is one source. A 3-day online subscription will set you back $35.
