Angry Replacing cargo area lights - how do you get the lens back on?!

OK -- so I just pulled the little plastic lenses off the rear cargo area lights to swap in LED lights. That went fine.. but when I tried to snap the lenses back on, I discovered the entire light fixture piece is completely loose inside of the rear door cavity. The lenses actually hold it flush against the trim panel...

Remove the lenses, and it's suddenly loose in there, and you can't push the lenses back on because it just pushes the entire fixture into the spun insulation in the door.

Has anyone dealt with this, and do you know how to get the lenses back on? I really really hope Chrysler isn't going to make me remove the entire freaking trim panel just to replace two light bulbs...

yes you have to remove the door panel. its really easy to be honest. you have to hold the light housing while snapping the lense back on at the same time and the only way to do that is get a hand inside there. only a few screws and some clips hold it on.

Yeah; I think that would have been easier than what I did...

I ended up squeezing the light socket with needle nose pliers after I noticed it was basically hinged in the middle, and pulling the entire light socket/receptacle out -- there's about 4" of slack wire -- snapping the lens back on, then shoving the entire thing back into the trim panel hole...

Kinda weird that Chrysler makes it so hard to replace a light bulb like that... at least the replacement LED will never burn out so I won't have to do that again.

Re: Replacing cargo area lights - how do you get the lens back on?!

I got my off with a small flathead screwdriver.

I put it back on by only remove the 2 severs at the bottom of the panel by the latch. And the 1 on the side with the light. The 1 screw that's closes to the light. And then I stuck my hand inside.
