The strut contains a shock as well as the air spring -- with the mileage on your vehicle, you're likely going to notice some odd handling characteristics if you have one brand new strut and one with a good number of miles on it because of the differing shock wear. I'd bite the bullet if you can and have them do both.
FYI that price on eBay is really good, if they are brand new.
Well, THAT's not what I want to hear.
I guess since the price for both on Ebay is less than the price for one at the dealership....but still, ugh.
