Must be my problem, in Missouri but it's happened to me a couple of times 😇

Re: roll away

NHTSA has received 14 complaints describing incidents where a Grand Cherokee has rolled away when the gearshift indicated Park. NHTSA’s Preliminary Evaluation paperwork indicates that five crashes and three injuries have been associated with the complaints. Rollaway incidents have occurred both with the engine running and turned off.

Re: roll away

I've done this a few times myself, not engaged PARK. Fortunately, I have caught it without an issue. I am constantly trying to be more careful with it.

Re: roll away

I've never understood why people don't use their parking brakes. But there's a lot about people that I don't understand.

Re: roll away

I believe it's been twice that I put my '15 in park, and it didn't go in park. It went into neutral once and reverse once. Both time I am sure I pressed the button in and shoved the shifter forwards.

So my vehicle never rolled when it was in park. Never had it in park and the tranny gave way and let it roll.

The vehicle just did not go into park. Not really a big deal. But I did find it strange.

I don't know if you're referring to me or not, but I never had this issue in my 2014.

Wonder if this also happening in other Chrysler products where this shifter is being used.

Issue not limited to FCA vehicles.

If you leave the UConnect screen on, and have the backup camera, the view behind you rather than Howard Stern Sirius 100 is a halfway decent clue.
Presuming you've had enough caffeine to jump start a few neurons [I will assume we've all been there].

I don't think they'd be allowed to lock doors if not in park, as those folks who confuse 4 wheel drive with 4 wheel stop may not be able to shift into park while upside down in the ditch.

Re: roll away

i have not seen or heard anything proving that the vehicles were in park and the engines off. more likely all these complaints are operator error. the electronic shifter is different to say the least and it took me a couple of days to get used to it but compared to my wifes x5 shifter its much better.

No i wasn't at all, not sure why you thought that.

I was directing my opinion at the news stories popping up all over the place.
