Hard to believe my 2011 Overland rolled past 90,000 miles tonight. It has been a great vehicle with no issues...knock on wood. I have a squeal from my AC blower motor which I need to replace, but otherwise I have not had any mechanical issues. With 90,000 miles I want to trade it for another Overland, but will keep my '11 until the 2019 redesign comes out.
This is my first Jeep and certainly will not be my last. Jeep quality is outstanding.
Gotcha beat! 2012 w/ just turned 110,000 and no I'm not with FCA. ljramsey, super easy to change out the blower motor, did mine in about 30 if I remember right
When you consider that the factory builds between 800 and 1000 of them...a day...even with an elevated incidence of issues with certain build dates over the years, there are a lot of folks who have had limited issues. While I cannot say I've been "problem free" with my JGC, it's been comparable or better than most other vehicles I've owned over the years. That experience dates back to 1979 and I've always purchased vehicles new. I'm currently at 72K miles with my MY12 and rolling right along...
2013 and just crossed 80k miles. Not quite as lucky - water pump died, heated seat died, hearing some sounds but Jeep dealer sucks for diagnosing that kind of crap. It is "fine" but especially with crap dealer service I highly doubt my next vehicle will be a Jeep.

Please let me know which brand you're going to buy that's guaranteed not to have two minor repairs necessary in 80,000 miles and 3 years. Just curious what the name is of the variety of grass that's perpetually greener.
If you've had no issues, why weren't you able to drive it past the 90,000 mile mark? Out of gas?:lol:
It is good to hear about the good once in a while. Glad you are enjoying the Jeep.
I have my tie breaker on order. I had an 07 for almost four years with nothing but oil changes. Had an early build '14 for a year and a half before I dumped it. I hope the '17 breaks in my favor.
Guess I spoke a little too soon in saying I had been trouble free. Turned 91,000 miles yesterday. Today it is in the shop for new sawy bar links and a total brake job. Still not bad for a vehicle with 91,000 miles. Will cost me less than 3 new vehicle payments.
Other than a weeping power steering leak, nothing to report here either. Great vehicle.
The forum here is biased. I don't mean that in a bad way, just that the majority of members here are here because they have had a problem. It's the same on every forum. No one joins to say "drove my Jeep to work today and it was great!" Subaru, Tundra and F150 forums are all the same. A forum is a tiny slice of the ownership.
Be happy there isn't an Airbus forum. You would never fly again.
With just over 78k and not near 90K yet, she is running in great shape. Gets me from point A to point B with some other points in the middle.
Just 1 problem with the ball joints at 22k which were covered under warranty. Might have to change the radiator due a possible failure. Otherwise, regular maintenance is all had to do.
As a first time Jeep owner, this will not be my last Jeep.
I'll pass 90k on my '14 Overland in the next week or two. It has been the most enjoyable vehicle I've ever owned. Primarily trouble free until recently. I've got about $5k worth of repairs staring me in the face so I'm gonna take the hit and trade it in.

Still on mine at 4.5 years. I usually change batteries around the 4 year mark to avoid having to jump it at the worst times, but I figured with the fancy AGM battery plus it's not baking under the hood, it should last longer. I'm going to let it fail to get a good baseline. But I have a portable jump starter on board just in case.
It's great to hear from the long time owners. I hope to join you in a few years. After buying my first Jeep I noticed how many older Grand Cherokees are out there and running strong. Maybe that's a bit of confirmation bias, but still they are out there on the road.
Anyone else notice all the 98-04 JGC's still on the road? It says a lot about the design (mechanical and visual). Sure stuff breaks and falls off (mirrors, window regulators, sun visors, etc). But they are worth keeping (and pouring some money into) because they are mechanically sound, easy to fix, and above all, still look good after 12-18 years (and 200K+ miles). I believe the same will hold true on the WK2's. I do worry about the hi-tech fancy options though (air suspension!). When that stuff breaks, you don't want to be forced to fix it just to operate an old vehicle valued at less than $5000.
I have a 01 4.0L with 307k... Rebuilt Motor but same trans. i've owned 6 wj's and never junked a single 1. Currently have a 99 4.7 and the 01. So easy to work on.
