Royal Purpe Oil Filter Question

Going with the 5w20 RP oil but on their website there is no filter for the new wk2. Was wondering if the wk RP filter will work in the wk2? Part #20-820

If you have the Hemi it's the same as 2010 model year filter.

Re: Royal Purpe Oil Filter Question

I've called just about every shop/distributor in my city looking for the filter no one seems to carry it or point me in the right direction lol they just carry the oil not the filter. Seems like it's a brand new filter or something, anyone know a dealer that will ship to western Canada?

http://www.amazon.com/Royal-20-820-R...1079317&sr=8-2

Have you just considered using another quality premium filter like Pure One? It has all of the feature listed on the royal purple site: metal end caps, anti-drainback valve, all of it, AND you can get 2 or 3 for that price. Avoid Fram though they use cheap cardboard and crappy filter material.

Try this:

http://www.amazon.com/Purolator-PL24...1079523&sr=1-1

Plus free shipping, at least in the states if you are a amazon prime member.

Ugh I used to use Fram... Did not know that they used cardboard. I wanted the RP filter because I was using RP oil just figured it would be better to use the filter from the same company BUT this Pure One seems pretty promising, will give that a try, thanks!

Re: Royal Purpe Oil Filter Question

Yeah Fram is ok, for a basic 3 dollar filter at walmart but the basic Fram "Extra Guard" (orange box) made by Honeywell is cheap. Cardboard end caps and poor anti-drainback valve (my experience not just reviews).

just a few of them out there, not all about "jeep" filters but same materials used to make all filters from a manufacturer

Re: Royal Purpe Oil Filter Question

Yikes that Fram filter one looks like a disaster! These are very useful links, much appreciated. I will still go with the RP/PureOne though it's more expensive but hey you get what you pay for I guess and it's not like oil changes happen very often. I got my oil serviced at dealership at 2000km and my next oil change they put in my log book is at 20,000 km?!? Shouldn't it be less than that?

Wow. . . well I am no math genius but isnt 20,000 km close to 12000 miles or so? Even the most ridiculous service interval calls for 7000 miles max between oil changes (of course only if you dont have stop and go traffic, cold temps, hot temps, dust, towing, or basically do anything you should do with an jeep).

Re: Royal Purpe Oil Filter Question

K&N also makes a very decent filter for the Hemi. Model HP-2010.
