If anyone in the SW PA was looking for a Rugged Brown Pearl Summit GC Hillview Motors in Greensburg has one. I seen it today when I went to pick up my GC and wow does it look good.
From what I can tell, it has the new 730 (I think). Also, has anyone noticed all early Summits are missing the pano roof in order to include the DVD media center? What's up with that?
It has been sitting there over a month. It has the 430 not the 730, plus not having the pano roof is a dealbreaker. They are supposed to be getting it a mineral gray summit with the pano roof. They are not sure when though.

Did you pick up one that you ordered today?
Thanks Slyfox7. Same thing is going on here in California. Summits delivered in January are not selling! They are in show rooms getting ooohs and aaahs but no one buying them. When an Overland model came in (no matter what color or interior), they flew off the lots (usually within 48 hours).
The main reason I see them sitting around here is the rear dvd instead of the pana roof and the radio. If you are buying a vehicle of this cost, you are not going to want the 430 radio. You also can play videos on a iPad for example, making the rear dvd unneccessary. You cannot just one day wake up and add the pana roof.
Not that im buying a WK2 or anything since I cancelled mine, but absolutely no panoramic roof would be a deal breaker. Anyone who actually spends money to get that overhead DVD player is crazy ;-) That pano roof is amazing and I do find it weird that most of the Summits so far have the rear DVD...If thats the case and I know a lot of guys on this forum feel the same way they are gonna have a tough time getting rid of those. The pano roof is one of the best features of the 2011+ models.
Yeah I'm going to have to disagree that the pano roof is one of the best features on the WK2. Heck, I'm happy for you guys that are enjoying it somuch. But if you plan on keeping it past 6-7 years be prepared to get leaks fixed. If I've seen it once I've seen it 10 times.
It's a hole in the roof. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually it will leak.
I could argue that same point for any aspect of any car over that time period. On the other hand Ive had sunroofs all my life and never once dealt with a leak, over the given time period. But with jeeps LIFETIME warranty, I'm not worried about a thing, except for getting a sun burn through that gorgeous "hole in the roof"
The pano roof is a feature that is key for me. The DVD is way overpriced and you get the 1/2 sunroof....booo.
I have never had a sunroof leak in almost 18 years of owning Grand Cherokees....
That Rugged Brown Summit also lists polished wheels, not the newer bright polished wheels. The dealership got it on 1/24...odd that there is no $305 credit if it has the 430N (which it probably does...but just might have the old 730N RER since it was built 1/7).
The other thing to consider is that with the DVD it bumps the price over $50K which may limit people who don't want to spend too much....
I'm with Hogs in the 1 percentile of people who dont like the pano roof. I do have kids but adding the DVD to eliminate the pano was the way to go for me. One Gaping hole in the roof is enough. I cant be bothered to stare out the pano glass while im driving anyway lol. I had to tint my fronts to eliminate the amount of light entering the vehicle as it was. To each their own tho right
What Jeep should do, and I suspect the reason they didn't was they ran out of money and time, is replace the antique roof mounted DVD player with a headrest based dual screen setup and make all Limiteds and up with the pano roof. It really feels like they added the roof DVD as a last minute thing because they ran out of time to engineer a modern solution.
Besides, I'm betting the number of people with families that are purchasing this type of vehicle would swing more towards the Durango for it's extra room. I'm guessing had they not even offered the rear DVD in the WK2 they wouldn't have lost many sales.
..... I bought my WK2 on 12/27/10 and went into the dealership asking for a pano roof. I was told that Jeep stopped making them in all WK2's because of leaking issues. I say B/S but I searched all around Houston at the time and couldn't find one...
Dan- what dealership has the Rugged Brown color? i would like to pull them up online and see some pictures. I can't find any online other than the pictures Jeep put out.
My Ltd. was ordered Jan. 7 and delivered 7 weeks later with pano roof. I love it. No mention was made of leaks or not having them. Somewhere on this sight it was mentionned that the reason the web site shows are credit available if you go with the front only sunroof was because there was a shortage from the glass company due to the pano's popularity.
