Running Board Usefulness?

Has anyone else realized the running boards on the '11 Overland are essentially useless? I understand they need to be "tucked" under the side of the vehicle close enough to not spoil the aerodynamics when driving. However they're too close to step on and use.

With adjustable suspension that lowers for parking, would it have been too much to put a little motor on each one and have them extend out as part of the parking process?

Yea I agree if you have normal to big feet, they are essentially not to useful else you are a child or want to clean the roof of the jeep.

Relatively yes. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined it shouldn't be an issue, takes about an 1-2 each side, the second side being faster as you've done one already. Search the forum I believe there is a thread or two out there.

AMP makes those powered side steps like the ones on Range Rover. But they don't make one for WK2s. I just think they might be little too fragile for off-roading.

Mopar side steps are nice but they just don't go well with whole design. Its rock rail looks better but not that useful as side steps.

I hope Mopar makes running boards like the ones on BMW X5.
