Rushing to get the 2014 Grand Cherokee

It has been a while since I looked at these forums; but it seems like a lot of members who rushed to get the 2011-2013 GC's are trading in for the 2014's. Has anyone asked the question why Jeep has made a significant amount of changes for I guess what would be their "mid-cycle" refresh? If you look at some other marques like BMW and Mercedes; the mid-cycle refresh they have is very minimal if anything. They only do significant redesigns every 7 years; which helps early adopters from having their vehicles be obsolete design wise. If some of you knew about this, would you have leased so you could just get the new one without costing too much? Just throwing this out there as I think it's wrong by the company to do this. Thoughts?

Re: Rushing to get the 2014 Grand Cherokee

I trade cars every 2 - 4 years. I only leased 1 out of 14 new cars. After selling or trading I always come out about the same or a little better than leasing. My cars in recent years have been low mileage, but have always been kept in good shape.

I think the 5 speed and quasi 6 speed were getting long in the tooth from a promotional point of view. Even the radio was old school (which I like).

Re: Rushing to get the 2014 Grand Cherokee

The WK had a moderate refresh in 2008, a lot of the electronics etc changed.

The changes that were coming in the '14 had been known for quite a while. Some things were just not available when the WK2 first came out, but have since become the standard across many Chrysler lines; it would be insane to arbitrarily hold that back and end up with a non-competitive vehicle in later years.. that wouldn't help your resale value either.

Some people here prefer the '12/'13 for various reasons, so it is not entirely one-way.
