Re: Rust on my window trim???

Could be rail dust from transportation. I had some specs on my chrome as well as certain areas of the paint.

I clayed mine and it's all better

Google "rail dust" and you might see some pictures that look similar to what you're seeing.

Re: Rust on my window trim???

There were posts about such rust on the trim for 2011s a long time ago (try searching), but only a few members reported the problem.

I've been keeping an eye on mine up here in winter salt country and so far no problems after two winters, 19 months and 38,000 miles.

My experience over many vehicles I've owned is that none of the chromed or stainless steel car trim has rusted, unless damaged beforehand by scrapes or gravel dings. Sometimes the factory-cut ends of trim pieces show minor rust after some years.

Rust when new is a defect to show your dealer.

Re: Rust on my window trim???

I'm glad I searched and found this.

I just got my Appearance Package done at the dealership. So I did a walk around making sure I don't have any swirls and such.

I saw the rust specks on the chrome trim pieces and had me worried.
