Should we go with a 4X2 or 4X4? I think the difference is $26 between the two. Just want to hear other peoples thoughts.

I recently had to make the same decision. A new GC Summit for my wife. Of all the vehicles I've purchased in the last 40 years I've never once regretted buying the most capable version. Not once. So the new GC Summit is a Hemi 4X4. Love it. The Quadra-lift suspension with the entry/exit feature makes it nice for smaller folks getting in and out of the vehicle.

Re: RWD vs 4X4

Last December an ice storm went through south east of El Paso. I was in it. There were over 200 crashes in a couple miles on I10. Maybe, just maybe, the four wheel drive helped me get through it unscathed.

RWD vs 4X4

I'm not sure where in Texas you are, but I'm in the DFW metroplex. I bought my Summit 4x4 two weeks before one of our ice storms last winter. I was really happy to have the 4x4. I felt very safe and confident. We may not need it all the time, but I'm glad I had it when I needed it.

Re: RWD vs 4X4

I live in GA. I have an '11 GC 4x4. Last year I bought my wife a '14 GC 4x2. Since then we have had lots of torrential rains with lots of local flooding and an ice storm which the effects of hung around for over a week. If I had to do it over again I would have bought the wife a 4x4 for the extra $2.

Re: RWD vs 4X4

4x4 it is, because you never know what might happen. Thanks for the advice.
Now I well have a 4x4 diesel GC and a diesel GMC 4x4 Sierra.

Oil burning family!

Maybe. I'm going to look at a GMC Terrain Denali tomorrow. It starts with a key, has a traditional shifter, and I think more comfortable seats. Nothing definite though.

Junk compared to the Grand Cherokee. Had a brand new loaded 2013 Terrain as a rental for a couple weeks. So happy when I got my air-suspension WK2 back.

With all the problems GM has been having lately with their "key" ignition systems (latest recall is for Camaros), a selling point to you is it starts with a key?

The days are numbered for "key" ignition systems my friend.

Also, better to have AWD when you need it rather than needing it and not having it.

To me buying a RWD Jeep is like buying a 6 cylinder Mustang...why bother?
