You made this part of the discussion. I specifically answered to the statement you made. You may feel you don't "need" it, which is fine. That still doesn't alter the truth in what I said.
Oh I understand your point and am sorry if I offended you with my perspective.

Not a problem. I'm not easily offended.

Re: RWD vs 4X4

I have a 2WD Overland in GA. For the two days a year it snows 1 inch I stay home. Was at the dealer Saturday and the lot is full of 2WD. I do agree with the resale value though...Probably worth it for that alone.

Totally not necessary I live in Southern Ontario, we get dumped on over here in the winter many times. There are still thousands upon thousands of 2 wheel drive vehicles, from cars to full size pickups which safely drive through any main city / rural road 98% of the time. My previous car was front wheel drive, I even had michelin "summer" tires which I drove all year around... it's just a matter of leaving your excitement behind when you're in the car. Take things slower than you would on a clear spring / summer day. The same advice 4x4 owners should heed. I've seen clowns in subaraus whizzing by on the shoulder on the freeway thinking they are somehow immune to physics. They almost always end up either in an accident or causing them.

Anyway; I have a 4x4 (we can't even buy the 2 wheel version up here), I love the jeep, including the fact that it has 4x4; but it's NOT a necessity for winter or rain or normal on-road driving.

The days are numbered for "key" ignition systems my friend.

LOL. Very true. Recently sold my SS right around when the recall was released.

To me buying a RWD Jeep is like buying a 6 cylinder Mustang...why bother?

Awww, man that's cold! Mine is a 4x2 Hemi.

Honestly think off roading is more fun with RWD imo. I've read online something about AWD is like having training wheels on your vehicle...

Re: RWD vs 4X4

This subjective question all boils down to what is best for the owner. What do YOU want?

IF someone asked me, I would tell them that I bought the 4x4 because TO ME it's worth having that capability when I need it or if I want it. I'm not a hard-core off-roader, but I do hit some trails, snow, and sand from time to time.

I also got the V8 because TO ME it's worth having plenty of power for when I need it. Sure it cost more to buy the V8, the 4x4, and the Overland package over a Limited 2wd V6, but guess what? It's worth it to me, and I'm not gonna lose any sleep over the extra money I spent.

It's not worth arguing about!

Apparently they do it more in an Outback than they do in GC

Re: RWD vs 4X4

In your scenario I would go with 2x4. As to the why? I think there's enough pros and cons here already. I would love a 4x4 myself, but for what? I live in south Florida lol
