SAE or Metric (or both)?

So I'm new to Jeep and have question....(slightly embarrassed I have to ask this). I would think the car is mainly SAE, however my wife's Ford uses a lot of Metric hardware. So is a 2011 GC hardware mainly SAE, Metric, or both?

I would like to clarify further. I'm putting together an abridged tool kit to keep in the jeep. So any suggestions on common sizes or specific tools that would be good to have in the jeep would be very helpful. (I'm current assisting what I had for my VW and determining what to keep and what to switch out).

We have a 2012 Export CRD Laredo and I have worked around the vehicle fitting accessories and DIY fluid changes in the 20 months of ownership.
So far I have not found any SAE bolt heads or threads.
Certainly the ones we get are all metric.
I wouldn't throw away any of the gear you used to work on your VW.

If someone with actual experience could nominate where SAE might be found there are a number of Australian owners who would be interested. It seems strange to me that the factory would mix the 2 standards.

All I have seen is metric on it. Don't forget that some sizes come close to cross over:
5/16= 8mm
1/2= 13mm
3/4= 19mm

Probably more, but I would (personally) never use the SAE on a metric or the other way around.

Whitworth?! They let the british near the design?

I'm trying to think of an SAE wrench that doesn't have a metric size that is so close you don't even risk a busted knuckle.

I won't agree with that. I have had five Triumphs (TR-3, GT-6+, TR-6 and two Spitfires) and an Alfa Romeo Spider (i, not y BTW) and the Alfa is far and away a better vehicle, albeit more modern.

I will say Alfas are easier to screw up and more expensive if you do, if you don't what you are doing. Anyone can, and most likely had to, work on Triumphs or MGs. Forty or fifty years ago when they were new people understood cast iron push rod fours and sixes with a carburetor much better than all aluminum, dual overhead cam engines with mechanical fuel injection, at least here in the US.

For what it's worth, here are some bolt sizes that I have encountered along with torque specs:

Wheel lug bolts - 22mm (110 ft-lbs)
Oil filter cover - 24mm (18 ft-lbs)
Oil drain plug - 13mm (20 ft-lbs)
Skid plates - 13mm, 16mm
