Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

Does anyone have numbers on sales of each 2014+ grand cherokee engine model in the us or canada?

I don't see anything online at the moment. If most dealers are like mine, the vast majority are ordered with the 3.6L V6 for dealer inventory.

I have no idea of the actual numbers, but I can guarantee you that the Pentastar V6 outsells both the V8 and the diesel combined by a huge margin.

I usually get my rough guess from Advance Auto. If you glance over their shoulder at their computer screen when selecting a part for the vehicle you gave them, when it gets to the engine select screen, it actually has percentages on the right side of how many were built with each engine.

I agree with the rest here. According to Autotrader, for 2014-2015 new Grand Cherokees within 100 miles of me:
Diesel: 10
V8 Hemi: 9
V6 Pentastar: 94

My dealer has 79 new ones in stock. 9 are Diesel, 22 Hemi, and 48 V6. All the Hemis are Overland or Summit.

The GA dealership I ordered from had about 80 GC's. Two had 4wd, one (Summit) with a V8, and no diesels. No wonder I had to order!

Jeep head Mike Manley in the summer mentioned during a discussion regarding a diesel Cherokee in the USA that the Grand Cherokee was running about 8% diesels, which was below his expectations. The GC diesel needed to be in double digit percentages before he would consider a diesel Cherokee. That's a data point.

A search on Cars.com shows 1660 2014 diesel GC's are listed for sale and 2500 V8s out of a total of 10175 2014s still out there nationwide. Out of 20460 2015's listed for sale 4179 are V8s, and while only 11 diesels are listed. Only 2 or 3 are legit, the rest appear to 3.6 s listed with the wrong fuel. Only 1 2015 diesel is listed "in transit" with a connect VON and VIN. Not clear that one has really been produced yet.

RAM sales are about 25% diesel.

That's a great follow up question. If Hemis account for 30% of Overland/Summit orders and Diesels make up another 10-20% then that is significant information, even if it is basically zero for Limited and below.

That's crazy such a low take rate for the diesel. A heavy off-road capable SUV is the perfect candidate for a diesel. American's are just too stupid to realize the huge benefit of diesel.
