Not really sure about airing down the tires not helping much. I have not driven a truck that it does help greatly to air down. I have taken mine on the beach and haven't been able to get it stuck. Then again we are not transversing dunes either.
No skid plates there, but to be honest, the boot thing was our own stupidity. I should have known better.

Re: Sand Driving Impressions - 5.7 Overland

One of Dunecrawler's amazing sand posts referred to Red Dune or some other very steep, elevated sand dune. Came upon this video in a related post. Hadn't seen high marking except for snowmobiles.

Amazing how the guy didn't panic and had enough mental clarity to give 'er some throttle and crank it left. I would've been scrambled eggs.

LOL, yeah seen that one also. I must admit the locals here love their cars and they get very good at this sort of thing, but accidents do happen from time to time.

Wow, I never thought about not being able to inflate an air jack because of the dual exhaust!

I think you'd have to find a way to plug one of the tailpipes in order to inflate the bag.

I might mod the bag to have two hoses. Will see how that works
