Re: Saw 1st 2014 Today ... NOT Impressed!

My only problem with white is that my current, '11 MDX and previous '07 Liberty were white. So were my '55 Chevy BelAire, '61 Chevy BelAire, '66 AMC something, '67 Impala, '74 Caprice, '93 Explorer, '02TrailBlazer. In between I try to break it up with blue, black, red and this time a new one ... Max Steel. Could be my next vehicle will be white.

The one pictured here is beautiful.

Re: Saw 1st 2014 Today ... NOT Impressed!

Thanks man. I've never owned white and I'm liking it so far as I wash it every other day from the Ohio winter roads. One thing that's nice about white is that it almost makes the bling disappear. I plan on changing up the caps, grille and wheels. I'm a fan of extreme contrast even though at one time my 11 was completely blacked out on 22's.

Re: Saw 1st 2014 Today ... NOT Impressed!

I've been waiting for '14s to replace my WJ Overland. Drove one and love the 8 speed and everything else except:
- front grille. Previous style has the line of WJ and I love it.
- fillers under the lights are SOOOOOOOOOOO cheap and are big piece of sh+++! Just does not look right on $50K vehicle. Sorry Jeep. They took the grille from Compass, it fits on Laredo and base Limited style lights, but is so ugly on higher trims. Just look at 300's, the grille there follows the line of the head light. I just can't pay $45-$50K for cheap plastic that after few years will burn from the sun and look even worse. If anyone see aftermarket fillers that look better, please let me know so I can order my Overland. Until then keep rolling WJ!

I too like the white, I think its the body colored trim vs the black trim, it really stands out in the white.

Re: Saw 1st 2014 Today ... NOT Impressed!

I really liked the stone white, it isn't so... well bright white.. lol. Ahem.. I agree with SW03ES. I'm in love with the interior updates of the 14' but the exterior doesn't do it for me. Test drove a 14' V6 Overland and I have to admit the transmission is much smoother. In any case, the refinements made to the interior and the transmission aren't incentive enough for me to trade. As SW said you have to be in love with the whole package and I'm not with the 14'. I don't understand people on here saying its jealousy or we're "jealousssssss", it's everything far from that. The 2011-2013 Grand Cherokee still is a major game changer for Jeep. The WK2 set a tremendously high bar for Jeep and its going to be hard for the Jeep brand to raise that bar even more. The so called new "tech" in Jeep is new technology for Jeep, not so new in the automotive world as a whole. With that being said, everyone on here is on here for one reason, Jeep is a brand we all seem to care a great deal about and hope it prospers.

Re: Saw 1st 2014 Today ... NOT Impressed!

The only downfall to white for me is the damn specks(orange ish) I get in the winter. I didn't hand wash my 12 for a good couple of months this winter and when I got to it the brake dust specks were horrendous... Will have to do a claybar when spring comes.. My white Tacoma had the same issue.. Summer time it's not so bad since I can wash more often... But like I said before that white overland in this thread is F'N amazing.. I wouldn't be able to say the same for a darker one. Maybe that new silver grayish color(not sure the name) but I would have to see it...

I second the issues with the orange specs here after ne ohio winters. I've spent many hrs cleaning those things off. I've had a few white cars, that was my only reason for not going white this time around.

Granite is absolutely beautiful IMO and I have a feeling you'll love it once it shows up. It was in my 3 choices along with billet.

Re: Saw 1st 2014 Today ... NOT Impressed!

I've had each body style of the modern Jeep GC's - a 1993, 1995, 1980, 1984 & my current 2011. It's funny, I didn't like the look of each new one compared the the one I was driving at the time. But as it turned out, after a few months each new design/style grew on me and I couldn't wait to get one. I've got the same feeling about the 2014. Right now, I like the front end of the 2011-13 better, but I bet the '14 will grow on me just like those new designs did in the past.

Re: Saw 1st 2014 Today ... NOT Impressed!

Well, as promised I went by Jeep today and really checked out the 2014's...took two for a drive, a Hemi and the V6, both Limiteds the V6 with QuadraLift.

The interior upgrades are mostly excellent. The new screen is beautiful, very high resolution. I love the new black headliner with the black interior. The new instrument cluster with the adjustable center screen is great, although I wish you could incorporate more with the digital speedometer. What I don't care for so far as the interior is the new wood trims. I don't know, the matte trim just doesn't do it for me, and color selections on the Overland aren't great IMHO, miss the saddle interior. I also wish a few functions were not controlled via the screen, such as seat and steering wheel heaters. I like the new steering wheel, controls are much better.

The 8 speed is great. Makes the motor feel much peppier and more responsive, you don't have to get into the throttle as far to get the acceleration you need. HUGE improvement.

On the outside...seeing and driving the 2014 just reinforced my position that the exterior changes aren't for me. As soon as I got there, I was immediately drawn to a couple of dark colored Overland 2013s, even after owning the vehicle for 1.5 years I'm still drawn to it. I just don't feel that for the 2014. I also prefer the wheel selections for 2011-2013, the 20s and especially the 18s on the Limited are busy and look smaller than the standard 5 spokers on the 2011-2013.

So, no, I'm not a buyer. It did occur to me though that it might be a pretty good time to replace my 2011 Laredo X with a 2013 Overland or Overland Summit. The 2013s are really marked down and they have a ton...thought about it for around a 1/2 second LOL

Yep, that doesn't really bother me. Neither of the ones I drove had the HID lamps with the headlamp washers anyways.
