Seat comfort?

Is it just me or are the seats uncomfortable over a 3+ hr trip? Ie drivers seat specifically.

Re: Seat comfort?

I initially thought the seats to be a bit stiff (coming from 2000 JGC - totally squashy).

However, now, even on long trips, I find the seats very comfortable.

Re: Seat comfort?

I've had and X5, A4 and A3 and all of them were very uncomfortable on my back and thighs. This summer I drove 2,000 KM in my JGC 2011 and not once did I have to adjust my seat or lumbar support to get comfortable.

Re: Seat comfort?

Longest trip in my wk2 has been DET to CHI, about 300 miles. In my past cars (Acura TL/Yukon Denali/Eclipse), I could go without stopping... with the wk2, I made a few rest area stops to stretch.

I probably just need to adjust the seat some more to find the best position, though.

I do find it comfortable in my daily commutes, but it's only about 7-10 minutes each way.

Re: Seat comfort?

I just did a 5hr drive in mine and the cool air on my butt made it very comfortable.
They are better than most cars I have had. I find leather seats harder than fabric, as it does not stretch as much as fabric, this can make them feel harder.

Re: Seat comfort?

The seats are very good, but not excellent as the seat bottom could use a little more padding. On the other hand, I have a fat ass.

Re: Seat comfort?

We did a trip to Austria (from Holland), about 1000km. Did the trip in 8,5 hours. Never got out of a car as fresh as from the JGC. Seats are just perfect for me !

Re: Seat comfort?

I initially though they were a bit hard. I was comparing to an XKF and S-type Jag. But maybe I adjusted but I'm very happy at 10,000 miles including a 2000 mile trip. No extra stops for back issues and my back feels great. Plus I'm old.

Re: Seat comfort?

They are definitely firmer than any seats I've had before, but on a 7+ hour trip they were fine. I was initially concerned (enough to get a Jeep GC as a rental on vacation) but I've been pleasantly surprised. Still like the seats on my Volvo S40 better...

I do notice some "looseness" between the lumbar supports and the leather. Will bring that up at the next dealer visit.

Re: Seat comfort?

You need to adjust the seats properly, I've done 12 hour days without issue. Of the dozens of cars I've owned, BMW, Mercedes, Saab, Triumph, Fiat, Volvo, Chevy, Dodge, the WK2 seats are the most comfortable long distance seats I've owned or rented. The Liberty the worse, just can't adjust those well enough.

Interesting. I can understand Triumph, but not Volvo. I find our Volvo seats to be slightly more "bucket" and therefore less tiring on my behind!
