Guys, he didn't ask for a moral lesson. If you can't answer his question keep your opinions and moral choices for yourself.

I agree that signal is annoying, it should stop after 2-3 beeps as it does on some Japanese cars. There are many reasons people can't or don't like to use seatbelt: pregnant women, large people, driving extremely slow areas for hours etc. Should be option to stop this chime after 3-5 beeps.

Re: Seatbelt chime- turn off?

after driving my jeep for 65K miles i FINALLY noticed that the seatbelt chime doesnt stop! i guess im wierd, but i automatically fasten my seatbelt the instant i get in a car. haha i've jumped in the jeep to grab a CD and gone to jump out, only to find that i somehow buckled up! "What? how the F did i do that??"

that chime will drive you up the wall and back down the other side, i disabled it for mere principal....

The law in NY used to be 55 mph speed limit, the reason to save lives.

Thank God that ended.

Sure, that's great. Now where's my rep point for posting the directions?

The answer to the question is right in the owners manual.

And thanks for your 2 cents, my friend.

OP: Do you have a wife and kids or other family? Choosing not to wear your seatbelt is a pretty selfish decision if so.

Sorry I can't help you with your original post, but as a public servant, I felt it was my duty to remind you of that.
Honestly, I registered just to tell you you are annoying, keep your opinions to yourself.

Re: Seatbelt chime- turn off?

You guys should give kaflyboy a break! I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt, and I want to disable the chime too!

Why? Because my backpack on the passenger seat is heavy enough to set the damned chime off! All the way to work and back I get the nanny telling my that the life of my backpack is at risk!
