Smile seatbelt stuck behind headrest...

Dont ask me how but my (pregnant) girlfriend got the upper part of the passenger seatbelt stuck BEHIND the headrest and now I cant bring it back because the belt tensioner wont let go! Here we are 500 miles away from home on vacation and she has to sit in the back when we drive around... anyone has an idea how to release the seatbelt without loosing a day at the nearest Jeep dealer?

I have a 2014 overland

Can you move the seat or recline the back?

Re: seatbelt stuck behind headrest...

Try taking the headrest off, moving the seat around or adjusting the belt shoulder height on the b pillar?

Good luck

I tried that but the belt is so tensed that I'll break the headrest if I move the seat.

LOWER the seat? Lifting off the headrest sounded good too.

The seat is at the lower position, here's a pick, maybe it can inspire an idea from someone!

Re: seatbelt stuck behind headrest...

Here's a link to get the headrest off. It's for the rear but I would think it would be the same for the front.

Rear headrest removal?

Hope this helps.

Re: seatbelt stuck behind headrest...

Try turning vehicle off-on-off. That may reset (release) the tensioner.

Front headrest removal is different than the rear. Here's the instructions:
