Hello to all.

If anyone has a photo of the limited or overland in deep cherry red, please post it here.

We will soon be placing and order for a new Overland (from Australia) and as the vehicle is for my wife, she is struggling with choosing the colour. Current selection is either Mineral Grey (plenty of pics on the forum) or Deep Cherry Red.

Unfortunately we can only find pics of the SRT8 in Deep Cherry Red or the limited / overland in inferno.

Any pics of the limited or overland in deep cherry red would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Thanks for that.

However Inferno Red is being replaced by Deep Cherry Red for MY12.

I just can't seem to find a pic with Deep Cherry Red, other than the SRT8.

deep cherry should be showing up soon at dealers here. Its a brand new color for the wk2...so thereare no pics. The SRT pics you see are NOT deep cherry

Thanks for the posts and the photos.

We've seen the compass pics before and one thing we notice is that the colour changes significantly depending on the amount of light, from a dark red in overcast conditions to a red with a pinky hue in sunlight.

I Guess we'll just have to wait until we see the Grand Cherokee in Cherry Red before placing our order as colours can be quite "car specific". Sometimes a colour may look good on one model and not so good on another.

The Mineral Grey may just be the safer bet.

I'll be buying soon and I'm on the fence about Mineral Gray. It's a color that also looks different depending on if sunlight is hitting it or not. If overcast, it's a nice, straight, metallic gray, and I like it a lot. The chrome contrasts against it nicely, too.

But in sunlight, it suddenly looks about 3 shades lighter and takes on a champagne or beige color. I don't like it very much at all.

I've noticed in all the commercials and photos where Jeep shows a Mineral Gray WK2, it's always overcast.

What color is it? All of the dealer sites I was looking at (and pulled some of these pics from) list it as Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl. I'm not asking to be a smart-ass, I'm asking because I ordered a 2012 in this color and have been staring at all of these different pics considering the same question as swampy :) I'd like to know if I'm looking at the wrong thing.

I definitely agree with the change in color and even the look on different vehicles. I've been to a few lots and have seen quite a few cars with Deep Cherry Red listed on the sticker. I don't like the cars in that color, but I tend to like the SUVs. Still has a slight pink tint in the right light which I'm not too fond of. Oh well....we'll see when my order comes in :)

A dealer just trotted out a wannabe 2012 Jeep (Patriot I believe) in deep cherry red. Even in bright sunlight it's mighty dark, almost like a maroon. Nobody will mistake it for a rapist-red Ferrari, but it's not far from the marginally more exciting 2011 Inferno.

It's not terribly exciting, but good enough for my red-worshiping (auburn-haired) wife.

Hmm.

Sometimes I think that if we were to order Deep Cherry Red we will not know exactly what it is going to look like until it comes off the truck.

Not sure if we want to take that risk. Otherwsie we will have to hold our order until pictures of the GC in deep cherry red are available.

Yeah. I tend to agree. However I was hoping to see a few different pics and hopefully be able to build a "Colour Consensus".

The problem here in Australia is that the dealers only stock very few cars to look at as most are sold as soon as they get them. The dealer that we will be using has said that he has never had a red WK2 pass through his shop.

So the only way of seeing one is to look at as many pictures as possible on the net. Not ideal, but really have no other choice.

If you do a google image search for deep cherry red, there are many chrysler vehicles that come in this color. The dodge ram in particular has more muscular lines and seems to match the aesthetic of the GC moreso than the Compass. And it looks quite good in this color. I've also seen dozens of Grand Caravans in deep cherry and never thought they looked 'pink'. Any version of red that isn't orangey is going to have some magenta tones that come out when under direct sunlight. I used to work in a paint store, and I noticed that when couples came in to pick colors together, the men were always terrified that if they painted a wall red it might look 'pink' in the sun. Relax!

Speaking from my experience...
The colors on the Jeep Web site are very different than they appear in real life (for instance, in photo of the JGC on the Towing Web page, the green JGC practically glows). Photos of local inventory posted by dealers vary depending on the camera, location, time of day, weather, and/or photographic skill of the person taking the photo. The tiny swatches in the brochure are inadequate.
Rather than just hope I was making the right choice, after I decided to buy my JGC but before I ordered it, I scoped out local inventory online, then drove to area dealerships to look at all of the colors in person. To seal the deal, and because my combination was nowhere to be found near me, I drove about an hour away to see the precise combination I had picked in my head just to make sure it was what I wanted. All told, I spent a few hours on three dealer lots, but it helped me justify my choices and made me feel secure about my investment.
If you're not in a hurry to get one or order one, take the time to visit a dealer and look for yourself. Better to make sure it looks good to your eye than to get stuck with an unappealing color after it rolls off the delivery truck.

Well, it looks like my wife has chosen Cherry Red.

However should anybody come accross a photo of the Grand Cherokee in Cherry Red, then please post it here.

Thanks

Yes it is but I just found out the ship date has been moved ahead a week so I won't be able to post photos for a while yet. :(
