Selec-Terrain and Quadra-Lift necessary (if not off-road very often)?

I live in north and east (so snow in winter). Mainly drive in cities and highway. I'm thinking if I should get the Selec-Terrain (i.e., Laredo X or Limited) as well as Quadra-Lift (Overland).

Currently I think Selec-Terrain is useful but Quadra-Lift is an overkill for me.

Any suggestion?

Also, do people use Quadra-Lift to further lower the suspension when driving on highway?

And what difference does the Sport mode in Selec-Terrain make on highway?

I bought my '12 Laredo with Selec-Terrain. Came with off road package that included quadra-trac II, which is what I "really" wanted. I'll probably only use the snow mode and maybe the sand mode on selec terrain, if at all. I didn't need quadra lift since I don't off road that much, and when I do it's usually just service roads or backroads that I decide I need to go explore, and I'm pretty sure the auto mode with QT-II will handle that just finel.

QL automatically lowers the suspension to what Jeep calls aerodynamic ride height at speeds greater than around 60 mph.

Sport mode raises the shift points for better acceleration. It also focuses traction on the rear wheels and disables traction control. This gives the vehicle a sportier feel during steering maneuvers. It also lowers the ride height about 1 1/2".

There are other advantages to the QL system. You can raise the body when working underneath or changing a tire, and you can lower the body to allow easier entry or exit, particularly useful for shorter folks, like my wife.

Forum members with QT I and no QL have reported that they have had no traction issues in snow or non-rock climbing off road use. So.... it's up to you!

Thanks guys! I believe QT-I is far more than sufficient for 99% of my driving scenarios. On the other hand, Select-Terrain and QL do sound very nice (but at a price of course). Tough to decide among Laredo X, Limited and Overland! The salesman always wants me to choose the Overland

I test drove with and without QL and I felt the Jeep with QL had a nicer ride. This could have just been me because I did not on drive them on same day. I went with the Overland summit. As far as the selec-terrain I turn it on sport mode every time I drive it unless it is snowing.

I think I like driving around in Sport Mode all the time

So if the car is equipped with Select-Terrain but NOT Q-Lift, then the sport mode will only change transmission shift and traction control, but not the suspension height. Is my understanding correct? I guess similarly, Rock/Sand mode will also change traction, but not the suspension height if not equipped with Q-Lift.

If you buy a JGC without Quadra Lift, your ride height will always be the same. Only the Quadra Lift equipped JGC's adjust the ride height

I think the Selec-Terrain is well worth the money if you drive in snow because it gives you the ability to lock the center differential (snow mode) for even greater traction. And in my opinion, the Quadra-Lift is pretty much a waste of money and adds unnecessary complexity to the vehicle.

Yeah. The Selec-Terain is really nice. I realize you don't off road very often, but for those times when you need it, it's really nice. It allows me to go SLOW over some rocky areas when put in 4-LOW. The Sand/Mud mode does really well on dunes also. Although I have managed to get it stuck once, but that time was totally driver error.

it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it...like when you are stuck or something in a ditch during a snow storm.
