Me to, I'm lucky if I put on 5,000 miles in a year.

Re: Service Interval Question

Same here, wife works from home and I have a company vehicle so my 3 cagers and 2 motorcycles rarely see over 5K miles a year. My motorcycle actually sees the most mileage out of all of them. I am taking advantage of the 4 free oil changes that Chrysler gave out when I purchased my Jeep back in Jan. I swore I wouldn't take it back to the dealer and I didn't found another one where I can actually watch what they are doing. I check the oil level after they are done and I also put a mark on the oil filter housing to make sure they changed it just incase I can't see them do it. Most of the guys who work in these places never stay long and most have no respect for your vehicle or how well the job gets done. Do it yourself and you know it is done right.

Re: Service Interval Question

Bought my jeep new 3 months ago.

Dealer sticker on windshield says service due at 5000 kms
Dealership brochure says 6000 kms
Jeep "maintenance book" with dealership sticker says service due at 10000 kms
Manual/warranty/website says 13000 kms

The decal actually says 5000kms, and todays date. I expect a call, at which time I will question why so many contradictory dates.

Of course I changed it myself already last weekend, probably the easiest oil change I have ever done. I haven't decided the intervals I will follow though...

Re: Service Interval Question

The last car requiring OLF at 3000 miles intervals was probably made in 1979.

Re: Service Interval Question

3000 OCI is the biggest scam out there. I am proud to say I finally convinced my dad he can comfortably go 7500+ miles running full synthetic.

Re: Service Interval Question

The manual clearly explains when to change the oil. If you tow, drive off road a lot, or do mostly city driving then the oil is changed sooner. I have mine done at 5000 miles. If you do light driving or mostly highway miles then 8000 miles or 6 months, is the recommendation.

Re: Service Interval Question

I just got a new Ford F-150 and my owners manual says oil change every 10K miles! It also takes 7.7 quarts of oil as well so that helps extend it. I change the Jeeps oil every 6 months because I don't put the miles on it to trip the reminder or stated 8K intervals. When my warranty runs out I will go to once a year oil changes like I do all my other vehicles.
