Re: Shifter confusion --- not just GC 14/15???

Well, let's see if it was a 14/15 --- if it was a 13 or earlier or a 16 then that would be really weird. So unfortunate regardless.

Never thought the GC tranny would kill someone. I know I have learned to pay close attention. Jeep is about to get sued big time. I wonder if this will affect resale value. I mean these vehicles plummet in value already. Mine is a '15 with a Hemi and it has lost almost $13K if I were to trade it in.

Re: Shifter confusion --- not just GC 14/15???

Yeah, when I first heard this news I thought 'oh no, bet its a GC'..... I'm surprised that leaving it in N on such a steep driveway he had time to get to the back of the car before it started rolling. As others have said, you notice straight away if it isn't in P, it will roll.

If that driveway had a grade of 6% or greater hill start assist would keep the brakes applied thus mimicking park and allowing time to get out of and to the back of the vehicle before it started to roll.

This is truly a sad story.
FCA needs to find a way to resolve the shifter confusion on the 14/15 .... Soon.

Re: Shifter confusion --- not just GC 14/15???

IF the cause of his accidental death is a result from this recall, I bet jeep rethinks just making it a software update and switches the hardware on the 2014/2015's.

Re: Shifter confusion --- not just GC 14/15???

Wait this isn't a 15 issue only , the MY14 Laredo I drive has the same issue, infact, this happened a few days ago when I thought I had put the car into park at a local supermarket, and I opened the door had to leave the aircon open for my infant son, the jeep was still in reverse if it weren't for the dip in the parking lot adjacent to the pavement my JGC would've begun crawling back. I have nearly clipped the rear as I reversed park the car into my garage and put it in park to find out she was stil crawling to the end wall. Now I visually confirm the uconnect, shifter led, and dashboard before taking my foot off the brake when parking
