So what does the recall do? It is in my glovebox. I figured I'd have it done at next oil change.

Re: Shifter confusion --- not just GC 14/15???

My girlfriend has a MY14 that I drive fairly regularly. Even knowing of the problem, I have had it happen to me a few times. Lucky for me it ended up in reverse each time instead of neutral, therefore I realized it as soon as my foot came off the brake. It is truly sad that someone has passed due to a lack of safety features that should have been built in. That said, other than the inherent issues with its function, I really do like the look and feel of it.

He could have had the parking brake slightly engaged, it might have been right at the crest of the hill where it took it a few seconds to start rolling backwards...

Really, park has never been an issue for me at all. Press all the way forward and bam, in park every time. Have never even had to look. It makes me wonder if there is more than one version of this shifter with different tactile feels?
It was never an issue for my wife either, and that was the same specific Jeep obviously. I think it has to do with each individual user and how they interface with that particular type of shifter.

In any event, the sad thing is its such a pointless setup in the first place. What does that shifter do for you vs the revised unit in the 2016? Its different for the sake of being different.

Sadly, the media CONFIRMED it is a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was subject to the recall.

Be careful out there guys...

Re: Shifter confusion --- not just GC 14/15???

Has anyone confirmed if the rotary shifter knob in the Durango is interchangeable with the 14/15 GC's obnoxious shifter?

If women can figure it out then anyone should be able to.

Re: Shifter confusion --- not just GC 14/15???

So I know the car pings/makes audible noise like crazy if you step out in neutral but I'm wondering if the error is in the system going from park to neutral itself? Reading some of the statements of people that went through this issue it leads to that...

Then again I'm not sure how many are exaggerated from lawyers make a case.
