If you want to go by college students in Toronto, Canada you would be correct. And we wonder why they have difficulty moving a shift lever without damaging something. Sad.

And just so you don't think I'm picking on Canada, it appears college educated students here fair no better.... Unbelievable.

I agree! I'm not getting mine done, either! I've never had a problem as I ALWAYS confirm it's in Park before I take my foot off the brake! A no brainer really . . .

Re: Shifter Safety Recall S27 (14/15) Repair PDF - 2.3 Hour Repair Time

While I've never really had an issue with the shifter, I'm getting my recall done purely from a liability standpoint.

If you ever let anyone else drive your vehicle and something were to happen related to the shifter, insurance and lawyers would be all over you. There is a recall on the vehicle that could have prevented this incident and you didn't get it done? Enjoy paying T the hospital, lawyer, and insurance fees out of pocket.

This recall is a fail safe. Why not get it?

I don't have an issue with the shifter that the recall would fix either (for me) but I guess I will get it done because...

...given that it will eventually get done from a future flash of one of the 4 modules (esp TCM) flashed in the recall due to a fix I need or want.

...even though nobody drives it but me I just realized I am forced to valet it every couple weeks for various events where I cannot avoid it...some are like car pros and some are, well, not...

Although you may not have had any problems with the shifter, the current design and operation certainly allows for it, regardless of your driving proficiency. I can't see any downside to getting the fix installed. Then you can't inadvertently miss Park and hop out as the car rolls away.

Again, pardon me all to hell for applying common sense. But if you make sure the vehicle is in Park before you "hop out", you will accomplish the same thing, and the car won't "roll away". I'm never in that much of a hurry where I can't take the 5 to 10 seconds it takes to accomplish that simple task. Along with applying the Parking Brake and shutting the engine OFF.
