LOL...I have a hemi Ram with MDS and Magnaflow exhaust...when I first got it..I thought it was really mis-firing. I had to pick up a super chips programmer to shut down the MDS.

So what are you guys running in your Jeep? How are your Pentastar's doing?

Allpar.com says that the factory started using the new head design for all new Pentastar engines made. Anyone know when the factory started using the new head? My build date is June 2012, which is near the end of the 2012 build cycle, so I'm hoping I have the new head design.

I talked with the dealer and they are saying that the issue isn't with the 2012 models, just the 2011's, which I know isn't correct. I told them to change the head regardless, of course they shot that down. The deal on this GC is a late 2011 / early 2012 build, confirmed by car FAX.

Yes I had a service warranty report done and it came back squeaky clean.

I told the dealer that I was really considering bailing on the deal because of my concerns with the head. This dealer runs 5 dealerships and the head service manager for all 5 dealers called Chrysler and and gave them the vin apparently. Chrysler told them that this Pentastar was not one of ones affected by the head issue.

Is there the possibility that they can determine which head is on which vehicle by the vin? It sounds nice, but is it possible?

they will know what lot # was used on the motor, providing they know what lot #s are causing the issue, they will know if you would have a problem.

Alternatively, the dealer might be wanting a sale. Can you get someone at chrysler to confirm the dealers claims on it not being a concern?
