But I'm sure a Jeep doesn't need QL to drive through snow.
If you have a bad northeaster and roads are flooded and you come up to a intersection and need a few inches you would wish you had OL

You're right, its better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

Re: Should I get Quadra-Lift?

If u use 4x4 for real then sure. I don't and would get an unlimited if I did. For me the extra cost for very limited use didn't justify it. Mine has everything but 4x4 and QL. It probably will only see light beach duty.

Re: Should I get Quadra-Lift?

I was afraid of the QL at first also. But I said WTF and got it. And I love it. I used to avoid roads like this, http://jeepgarage.org/attachment.php...1&d=1331764819 LOL!!and now I look for them!

If the snow is a foot deep the QL helps to keep the undercarriage from dragging.

But here's one beef I have: if your wheels spin (and try to avoid that in snow with ice underneath), and the speedometer goes above about 30mph, the OR2 and OR1 will be cancelled by your "speed" even if you are hardly moving.

IMHO, this is a flaw in the QL system. The OR1 and OR2 speed limits should be tied to actual speed across the ground (easy to monitor from the wheels' ABS sensors), NOT by the speedometer tied to transmission/wheel spin.
Hopefully Jeep will fix this in future.

As a total aside, love my WK2, but my old Cherokee XJs were better in snow/ice.

Re: Should I get Quadra-Lift?

I got QL because I go off-road and it has a use to me. 99% of my driving in on road so getting steel springs with a lift kit was not an option.

I don't think you need it. The steel sprung vehicles sit a little higher than their QL brethren at Normal Ride Height and for the conditions you are talking you should have more than enough clearance without QL.

I agree with an earlier post, test both. I liked the steel springs the ride was a little firmer and the connection with the road was a little better. That said cruising around on the airbags is very comfortable.

So my steel sprung limited will sit higher than an overland at normal height?

I'd definitely still want 4x4, even if you just anticipate "light" beach duty.

I was thinking the same thing. In my experience on sand, I would never take a 2wd on sand.

Re: Should I get Quadra-Lift?

Neither would I, but plenty of people do take 2WD vehicles on the beach. The way to do that is with huge floatation tires. The cost of those tires and wheels would probably be more than getting 4WD.
