Re: Should I upgrade the OEM Michelin Latitudes?

Rain stopped long enough for a photo of LTX M/S 2's.

Re: Should I upgrade the OEM Michelin Latitudes?

You'll be thankful for the upgrade!
I don't take my Wk2 offroad and if I do, it's very light terrain. I'd rather tear up my quad.

In an honest opinion, the Lattie's will get you from point a to b on pavement and that's about it. Over time, the ride deteriorates rapidly and the road noise gets too excessive for me. Definately not something you'd expect from Michelin. Once I swapped out the Latties for the MS2's, I never looked back. It's quieter, smoother, and I guarantee they will provide you with alot longer service than what the Latties could offer.

Re: Should I upgrade the OEM Michelin Latitudes?

Thanks for the feedback guys...

Has anybody had any success trading tires in or selling used tires? I hate to just dispose of $1,000 worth of tires.

Selling used tires: Many here have had success selling on Craig's list. Not for me though. Used tire stores around here will pay $5 each unmounted or $10 each if they are mounted and inflated and them removed and brought back within 24 hours. Certainly not my first choice.

Trade in: First find the tire dealers in your neighborhood who will meet or beat web tire sources. This is easy as they know they need to do it. Even my Jeep dealer did that! Then tell them about the trade in. You are looking for the lowest installed, tax etc. included price. Some will not want the trades, but remember you are now looking for the lowest total price. My Latitudes had 9800 miles. I got the LTX M/S 2's at an independent dealer (Chevrolet dealer!) for $956 mounted including sales tax and the old Latitudes. Easy.

I recently sold a set of Winter tires mounted on alloy wheels for $480 that I purchased in 2007 for $1,059. I used them for four seasons and just under 12,500 miles. The tires were Bridgestone Blizzak DM-Z3, size 265/60R18Q and the wheels were silver five-spoke Hi-Performance Designs, Inc. "Poison Series" alloys. When I sold them, the tread depth on each tire was 12 millimeters.

I'm from Chicago and never would have thought that I could sell used tires before I moved to Connecticut six years ago. Yankees are really, really thrifty!

You are correct. I am about 100 miles from you and people do not think twice about buying used tires. People even pile them by the curb with a sign and they sell!

Re: Should I upgrade the OEM Michelin Latitudes?

I swapped out my Latitudes for Destination AT's at 8k.
Sold the Michelin's on Craigslist for 400 after a decent number of hits.
