Re: Should I use REC 90 gas in my V8?

Have used half a tank of mid-grade 89 and don't seem to notice any performance difference over the Rec 90 ... once I use up the tank, I'll post MPG.

If you listen to some of the folks on here, your doors and engine will fall off before that tank of evil ethanol is used up. Be careful, you've been warned.

Nah, it's just that some of us think it's a joke and put to a better use feeding the dairy herd.

Yup, make the ethanol and feed the cattle the mash that's left over.

Burn as much of it as you wish. You can have my share of it.

a) I add Sta-Bil
b) Corn is terrible for ethanol production, sugar beets and sweet sorghum are much better.

Maybe, but corn is abundant compared to those.

Re: Should I use REC 90 gas in my V8?

Just filled up 19.78 gallons of the mid-grade 89 since my last fill up of the mid-grade 89. Well, I got 11.4 MPG almost exclusively in city driving 226 miles / 19.78 gallons. Will monitor for the next fill up too.

That's terrible . I sure hope it's not like that when I get mine.

Yep - REC 90 was 12 MPG (two fill-ups) and Mid-Grade 89 (one fill-up) let's round to 11.5. Gonna do a second fill-up of Mid-Grade 89 to compare over two fill-ups. It is 95% City driving and I do like the acceleration but am not a crazy driver.

Doesn't look like it is worth the extra $$$ for REC 90 at this point as REC 90 is 8% more and don't really notice any difference in power.

Only 2,053 miles on it so far.

Government MPG for City is 14, I'm getting 12ish so not too bad. By the way, no towing but it is a 4x4 V8 and I like the acceleration.
