Ok, well hopefully your mileage will improve after a few more miles as others have reported.

Not worried about it as I don't put a ton of miles on it anyway and with this being my FIFTH GC 4x4 V8 I'm used to the low MPG.

I'll tell you what though, if I wanted a bit smaller SUV, I'd be all over the new Cherokee.

The trail hawk doesn't look half bad in person. It takes a lot to get used to the new design though imo. The tech in them is excellent.

The Cherokee looks like a bug? LOL I think they could improve the front and rear a bit as the front is perhaps just a tad too sharp and the rear too plain. Other than that, it sure looks like a winner. When I take my GC in for the ACC recall, I'm gonna test drive one just for fun.

Re: Should I use REC 90 gas in my V8?

As far as compact SUVs go I haven't seen one other than the q5 that I really like. The x3 looks like a shoe to me. The Kia sol makes me think of a mouse. The small Benz, glk maybe? Makes me think roller skate.

Is that crazy?

Re: Should I use REC 90 gas in my V8?

Like I said, if I was looking for a tad smaller SUV (but not a SMALL SUV like those others), the Cherokee would probably be at the top of my list. I am not a huge fan of the styling (front and rear) but in person isn't bad. Perhaps mid-cycle refresh Jeep "refines" the front and rear. Other than that, great features on the Cherokee.

Re: Should I use REC 90 gas in my V8?

OK - Two full tanks of REC 90 and two full tanks of Mid-Grade 89.

The results:

REC 90: 422 miles / 35.20 gallons = 11.99 = 12 MPG

Mid-Grade 89: 453 miles / 40.58 gallons = 11.16 = 11.2 MPG

Went to same pump, same auto fill notch with nozzle in the same way and same depth. Really city driving only.

REC 90 costs 11% more but gets 7% better mileage and perhaps a tad better performance.

Anyway, those are the numbers.
