All black? Sounds kind of depressing, but I'll vote yes for it.

I vote No...customize your truck the way YOU want it. Although, not soon enough, aftermarket parts will come.

my dealer just told me he couldn't swap them out because i got the adaptive cruise control. sad. guess i'll have to look into powder coating them or just deal.

That's not true. The entire side mirror does NOT need to be exchanged; just the outer shell (painted for chrome).

It's not cost efficient. The black olive ash wood trim is $2900+ MSRP and the steering wheel is like $700+. Could have got it all for like $2250 but still too much, so I just got the beige interior instead. Mirror covers and door handles probably run $600+ total. $1,000+ to sand and paint trim. SRT8 grill = $750. And none of this adds value to the Jeep for trade-in. An original edition from Jeep avoids all that wasted cash.

I hate the chrome grill, license plate brow, the chrome mirror caps and the chrome door handles. As part of the deal, the dealer is supposed to trade out the mirror caps and door handles for me. I'm having the license plate brow painted body color. I saw a Jeep in the Mopar booth at SEMA which they had named it something like the Diamond Edition or Diamond Black Edition (I cannot remember exactly) - the license plate brow was body color as were the mirror caps and door handles. The grill was a nice titanium color as well as the window trim and wheel fenders which also match the wheels (one off set of factory 22" Overland whees). I posted pics here: SEMA photos.

For the grill, I was going to paint it black, but am concerned about rock chips that might happen easily after painting the plastic chrome surface. So I might look into purchasing an SRT8 grill because I do like that grill with very little chrome. After tinting the windows I have decided to make the window trim black as well. Just waiting for the shop to get more black vinyl in as they were out of it. I'm thinking it will be easier to do that rather than try and have it removed and painted somehow.

The one other think I noticed which I now want black, but am not sure of the cost - is the headlight bezel trim. On the SRT8 models it is black and on my Overland it is chrome. I have not inquired as to how much replacement headlights are. IMHO, that would be another item Jeep should make black on a "Black Edition" if they were to be smart, read this forum and make one.
Rims look good man!!

Basically how the Chrysler 300S removes all chrome and replaces it with black, I'm down for it. As long as it has a clever name though

Re: Should Jeep make a "Black Edition" Grand Cherokee Overland

I guess someone in the Product marketing section must have looked out in the parking lot and noticed that an employee raided the parts bin and and Came up with this the problem is they don't know what to call it either. They also state that there is also one done in Deep Cherry.

If I had to take a shot and naming both the Black and the Deep Cherry I would call them "The Dark Edition" both colors are basically dark.... and I am guessing they both share the black wheels since these wheels are available through MOPAR accessories.
