Just to clarify..that is not my son, that is my friends son, not that it makes any difference...but its good to have the facts straight...haha.
Those trips are kind of guided trips, we go 8-9 trucks with a guide leading the group, so what I mean is that is lots of fun but not really serious risk, when you see somebody going before you...well...in my case its easy to go for it, some of the places I've been i wouldnt have gone or crossed on my own not knowing whats ahead or underneath.
So you where here with UNITAS ?...I remember in the newspapers reading about that, i'm 55 so at that time I was 37, the only port in Uruguay in Uruguay is Montevideo so I think thats the one you are talking about ?.
And yes, in those days with a few dollars in your pocket down here you were almost rich....nowadays because if exchange rates prices of food are similar, not the same with imported items, like cars !, due to taxes prices here are a little bit over double the price you pay in the states..so you can imagine now what a GC costs here...a lot !.
I'll try to attach a few videos underneath this text, one in the mud and one in snow.
Well, thats it for now, have a great weekend and dont you worry, after my next trip pics will be posted.
Rgds.

Wonderful, wonderful, how silly of course it makes it all better knowing it was not YOUR son . . . ugh, you still crazy !
AND I have just turned 65 so, that means I was 37, so you must of hit the wrong key dummy, you were 27 ! Yes ? Or were you born on leap year, hee hee !
YES, that port City name does sound familiar ! Thanks ! Yes it is terrible that Imports cost so much, I agree. But no denying - at least then - the food & wine and people were all great & the low price was just a wonderful bonus surprise !
I bet ALL is still the same, except perhaps the restaurant prices a little higher ?

Whatever, even at double the price, or triple, NO Compare to MickyDee's !
ps; Laughter IS the best medicine - my VA Oncologist highly recommends it, way before any chemo. !

EDIT; Does that beat snowboarding ? And, do you feel like a little pig in the mud ?

I've got to get a better camera. The iPhone does okay, all of my photos are with the iPhone, but it's not like having a DSLR with a 70-210 zoom.

Sent from my iPad using JeepGarage
Those Panasonic Lumix's are Great IMO, and not that expensive - check the website, you'll see ! No not employed or anyone I know !

Okay, Fly it is.

Hey Fly,

Get yourself s couple of these kind of lawn sprinklers.

Melnor 3100 sq. ft. Oscillating Sprinkler : Target

Whenever you're done in (even just) the sand, and especially in salt water, run this under your car for a few minutes, then move it and repeat. Sometimes depending on how long and how much salt water I've been in I'll leave it running for up to 30 minutes at a time.

(Before any of my California drout-stricken neighbors jump on my back...) I park my car on grass when I do this, so it's also watering the lawn.

Even ocean beach sand contains salt, so I do this when I'm on just the sand.

Those sprinklers are cheap, under $10 these days.

Ah, but alas, I am but a poor simple man living alone in an apartment with 300 of my closest friends - HA, not really, most of them are self centered buttheads,
so even if the lawn sprinklers were free I don't have a way to use ! And that is why man invented the Auto & Self serve Car Washes ! Betting you didn't know that ! ? Only a short time in my life when actually lived in a real house - 5th thru 12th grade ! Everywhere else Apartments, well except for those 6 month Navy Cruises, ha ha ! And there were a number of 2 & 3 month "excursions"
too ! Probably spent about 7 years of my 20 year career living out of a Navy Warship . . . "fun times" !
Again with about 260 - 300 of my "best friends" HA !

Have a great weekend and best to you and everyone reading.

Yes it was a great trip. Mom is a trooper, that's for sure, but also our GCs are so comfortable! Mom has sciatica that flares up every once in a while but the GC seats are very adjudtable and comfortable. In those 7,100 miles she was fine for all of them. We are lucky, owning these great cars.

Thank you, sir, for your kind words and you bet, if I do make it down south I will look you up.

You never know I might drive the whole way. I just need to get through the Darien Gap!

Got back from this trip late last night. Went out there with my dad, and it was a fun trip. Unfortunately, didn't get any pics of the JGC off-roading. We made the drive in the Cibola National Forest to go up Mt. Withington, but didn't make it all the way up. The road splits off at about 9,000 feet to make the final 1,200ft climb to the summit. However, my Jeep is still sporting all-season tires, and the road up was covered with fist to bowling ball sized sharp-edged rocks. Discretion is the better part of valor, so we turned around to fight another day, one in the future with the Jeep fitted with all-terrain tires.

Yes it is, and we all look to seeing the new Tires as they tackle more off road adventures in "the bush" !
Safe, Environmentally kind River crossings anyone ? Throw in a Campside moon rising or sun setting and a cold 'beah' and were all set ! COME ON Summers fast approaching, & I know you've lit up the "bar-be" at home, so how about out "in the Wild" ? ? ?

Sure would of liked that being as a video for about 30 seconds or so and some sort of voice-over chat (you 2, on the beautiful sky ?). Yea I'm just an Old Romantic at heart . . .

Some have "talk some" of your WK2 Summits & Overlands going "where no man has gone before" (sorry Star Trek fans).
This could be a Super "Show & Tell" Time, and just think of all the FREE publicity for JEEP (FCA US) ?
I'm seeing a scene in my mind . . . it's me with my campsite fire aglow near sunset across & up river from me . . . walking back toward the 4x4 Laredo which secures the fire from the prevailing breezes. In hand one 14 inch hatchery rainbow for a late dinner. Coffee will soon be perking . . . it's all so clear (in my mind).
SO what do ya say . . . who's first ?
ps; mine will have to wait as I am presently without digital ability or vehicle and the 2017 Laredo I want is not yet available to buy (come July/Aug I hope?).
EDIT/UPDATE ; Gonna order the 2016 75th Laredo E with ORA1 and possibly the Tow package Either the last week of April or Last week in May . . . 1st aftermarket (if can't get the Dealer to) is upgrade the tires for off roading; then Mopar rock sliders.

I know, for you it's all about the trip . . . and for me . . . it's mostly about being AT the destination, and to enjoy / relax their for the day or a few days !
Hope to get back to your neck of the woods, perhaps this late Summer on my way to Colorado (once break in my WK2).

Arizona, especially Northern - Sedona & Flagstaff areas and further East - have some fantastic scenery ! I love the wooded mountainous areas, of course, that is where some of the best Fly fishing can be found ! Well, keep em coming and we'll keep enjoying (wether here or the other thread - yours) !

. . . . . . well looks like you were wrong ? Show & Tell seems to be fading into the sunset . . . ! Makes me sad, but, before this month is out I will of ORDER my "Laredo 75th" V6 w/ORA1 & possibly Tow, in Recon or White? with the Dark Gray w/Insert Seats (the Beige is just TO Light for me!).
OUCH, that comes to nearly 40 Big Ones, wow, a far cry from the 26 I spent on the '03 Ram1500 - funny 13 years later at $1000/year . . . = $39 Big Ones !
Go Figure, some inflation huh ! ?

Gonna have to start a new thread when I get to MY 1st Off Road Campsite . . .
Call it, what, FlyFinaticLou's Off Road Photo Journeys* ?
Thanks for "Believing".
