Yes, yes it is ! Whidbey's Oak Harbor (N.A.S.) was the 2nd to last duty station (should of been the last - long story, don't ask !

Oh, and when you take those "Olympics" pics., keep the Jeep "in view" if you can. I've been pondering a move back to the west side - if for nothing else than to "beat the heat and smoke" over here ! My overland-ing trip to Colorado comes 1st, then on the way back I will "decide" - the "belongings will of been in temp. control storage a few months by then (next Fall ?).
LOTS of Pic. here for that with my 'Recon-izer' - that would be my '16 75th Laredo w/ORA1 packed with all my camping & fly fishing gear.

Thinking about the Port Angeles/Sequim area or closer to the Navy bases (for the shopping & medical care !

Had a look up of the trail ratings you mention, didnt know they exisited. Most would be a 4 in your language although there is a river crossing that comes up to the headlights with QL on Off Road 2 with resonably fast flowing water. With the section around Jenolan Caves State Forest (6 Foot, Gibralter Rock & Mini Mini) probably a 6 to 7 in the dry, you can take some of the chicken tracks around some of the obstacles, would not attempt it in the wet and they usually close the trail when it does.

OK. My reference for trails (USA) comes mainly from TRAILDAMAGE.COM
or to a lesser degree, TRAILSOFFROAD.COM or AMERICANTRAILS.ORG or JEEPJAMBOREEUSA.COM ! But still, the info. & photos / video are Way Cool !
From what I can tell from the limited few pictures your trail their is a 2, maybe 3 - but the Water Crossing if deep as you say, makes a NO GO for me & mine !
time to turn around. Maybe some day I'll get "ballsie" enough & get a snorkel put on ! THANKS FOR SHARING, don't be a stranger !

Yeah they are not really good photos.
Here is a video from someone else going through that Gibraltar Rocks Fire trail, at the 4min mark is the start of the section where the photo is taken and might give a bit better idea.
https://youtu.be/9lJsSTsxZCM

Want to head back up again and explore some more though at some stage, maybe when it gets a bit warmer.

That place looks fun as hell.

Those ruts at around 8:15 are pretty deep though... I wonder if that Range Rover tapped his door panels into the dirt?

Is anyone in NorCal, or anyone that knows easy-ish trails in NorCal? I'm not talking about the Rubicon or anything like that. The wife is preggo so I want to take it easy. Great thread here, fellas!

Re: Show & tell - wk2 photos off roading "proof"

Spent some time playing around at the Tuttle Creek off road park near Manhattan Kansas with some friends back in June. I recorded some pretty cool videos with my GoPro attached to the roof - will have to work on getting them posted. Trails from pretty mild to insane depending on how crazy you want to get. I ended up going about 90% of the places my friends with Rubicons did, but did some pretty serious damage to the plastic sill guards on both sides. Needless to say, I now have Uneek rock sliders sitting in my garage - just need to find some time to put them on before the next adventure.

Post some pics of the damage, and the videos if you can.

NorCal is pretty large and points can be hundreds of miles away, depending on where you are.

I suggest trying the SVRA parks (search on California SVRA). The parks have places to play with our JGCs, and trails are marked easy, medium, hard (black diamond), and hard+ (double, triple black diamond). I've found the SVRAs to be good, 'controlled' places to build your skills - controlled in the sense that the trails are rated, and there are employees who know the area and can give advice. Our JGCs are pretty capable as stock rigs. At Hollister Hills SVRA I have taken mine onto some black diamond trails and am pretty happy with what a stock JGC with QL can do. That park has over 20 miles of trails.

I think it costs $5 for a day pass - a bargain. I get the annual pass for $50 and try to get out there when I can. Oh and if you ever drive to LA on I-5, the Hungry Valley SVRA is right next to the freeway on the Grapevine. Very convenient. Have fun!
