I usually just scroll around on google earth and look for the forest roads. When I go out to Washington I spend a lot of time on Highway 2, and really like the Skykomish/Steven's Pass area. Feel free to PM me if you want a few tips for that area.
For reference from the Washington pictures above: the first one is Skykomish, second is near Cape Flattery, third is near Cape Flattery, 4th (foggy one) is Skykomish, and 5th (ferns) is Baker Lake.
