For what it's worth, my 2011 Overland has not had a single problem except the few (like the iPod bug) that were fixed by software updates.

When I was car shopping, a buddy tried pretty hard to talk me out of the Jeep. "Friends don't let friends buy Chrysler products." But nothing else compared, so I bought the WK2 and the lifetime warranty. It's been a fun five months so far.

Yea there are a lot of people out there who no matter what, will not change their mind about a brand. Its funny when you talk to people about their perception of "quality" brands...how they think foreign is so far superior to domestic brands. American made cars have a bright future ahead judging by the whats happening now with chrysler/jeep/dodge, ford and gm. I actually get annoyed when people say that foreign car companies are so problem free and that they will never buy an american car (Yet they forget about toyota acceleration problems for example). my past two cars before the jeep have been a 07 4runner, and a 06 TL and although were good vehicles.. they werent problem free. No regrets w/ the wk2, happy and proud to have one.

Sorry to say I have owned more than 10 different brands over the years and not one manufacture was any better than the other. They all have their own type of problems. So anyone that says that a particular brand is more reliable than another just isn't a picky driver. They all have problems and lots of them.

The most problem free new car I've owned was a Honda Accord. Every other one had some kind of issue while under warranty- every last one. I've also seen some occasional issues with failure at middling mileage levels with other cars (my mother's CR-V has had A/C issues).

IMO, Jeep isn't doing all the quality control they could or should have been doing, but for the most part, I'd expect that from most any manufacturer. Even luxury brands have their issues. But now that mine has had the A/C TSB done, I expect a reasonably problem free ownership.

Re: Sit-Rep.. 2012 Summit Steering Wheels

My steering wheel is in!!!!...and it is the same one I already have on my Summit. They are sure they ordered the right one. They are worried Jeep is going to say that is the right one for 2012
We need to keep on Jeep about this cause it would be a great wheel if it matched the dash but it does not...at all

Re: Sit-Rep.. 2012 Summit Steering Wheels

That might be the case. There are (7) 2012 summits on cars.com and all of them have the brown wood wheel. I do not think a mistake would have happened to that many of them. It might be a horrible change or an extreme shortage. I would ask them to order the part # for the 2011's and see what comes in.

Re: Sit-Rep.. 2012 Summit Steering Wheels

Its funny, well maybe not, but one of the things i am not thrilled about on the overland, besides the extra chrome, is the partial wooden steering wheel...especially the traditional wood color. I wish i could have ordered an all leather one...i didn't realize the summit had the darker wood until this post....in hindsight, i might have leaned towards the summit instead....or tried to get them to build me one with the darker wood...i hope buckeye's dealer made a mistake

Re: Sit-Rep.. 2012 Summit Steering Wheels

I'm getting a little worried, guys!

I currently have a '11 Overland Hemi, and have ordered a '12 Summit Hemi (partially so that I could get the rear ELSD). My Jeep is supposedly scheduled to be built tomorrow (9/16).

I'm not gonna be pleased if my Summit arrives with a brown wood steering wheel ... hopefully Chrysler gets this resolved. If push comes to shove, I'll probably refuse/delay delivery until the correct wheel is installed.

Mike

Re: Sit-Rep.. 2012 Summit Steering Wheels

With any luck they only ordered the wrong one. After reading about this issue I have made my dealer aware of the problem. They have 1 2011 left and it has the correct wheel (well for now it does). we will wait to see how my 2012 comes in. It should be shipped in the next few days.
