Snow storm

Winter storm Electra dropped some hefty snow north of Pittsburgh today, had to go pick up my stranded sister and it was my first snow with my 14 GC overland. Really impressed with the handling in wet snow and ice, especially in snow mode. Never felt myself slip or lose control. That's with the stock latitudes too. Kudos jeep.

Re: Snow storm

We got rain ... no joy!

Glad to hear the stock tires handled the snow.

We got a couple inches in Cranberry Twp just north of Pittsburgh. I have to say I kept my jeep nice and clean in the garage and drove my 97 XJ today.

[/IMG][/IMG]Passed a lot of cars in the ditch last weekend. Jeep handled great in the snow. Wipers did ice up though and had to stop and break the ice off.

That is my biggest complaint. Why are the wipers freezing up so much? Out of all of the vehicles I have ever driven this one is the worst for that. Anyone have a link to heated windshield wipers?

Are you running in climate auto mode?
It is too bad they don't have more than one auto mode, because the auto mode seems to have played football too many times without a helmet.
I had the same issue during WS Boreas, went to climate settings and selected the defrost/lower setting on the right, with that and the fan control was able to deal with it without needing to crank temps to max.

The rear defroster is good old electric and seemed to work ok.

Wait till you are by yourself and the fuel door freezes shut and you can't reach it and the !#%%%@@#$&* button at the same time. [anything soft and springly shoved into it and then push button has worked multiple times]

Nope, it never is in auto mode. I had to keep it on defrost or defrost and floor the whole time with the temp at 72 to 74 with the fan speed about halfway to even attempt to keep up. The rear kept freezing up as well.

Re: Snow storm

18" stock tires work well in the snow. Not quite as good as my old JGC with Goodyears, but good enough. Had to drain the washer fluid and refill it with the antifreeze washer fluid. Bought it in Texas, and I think they filled it with blue water The washer froze up when it got below zero. Now the washer is working great.

Re: Snow storm

Geez, the Weather Channel has to name every snow storm now! It snows frequently in the winter. They will go through the alphabet 4 times by spring. Anyway we got 10 1/2 inches on the patio overnight. It was our first measurable snow of the season. At least it was the dry fluffy snow. Neither of us left the house today.
