Thats actually what i think might have happened...i bet the car that was a few spots over from me came out and left her cart there and then it blew into my car.

what's funny is that i just got done going all the way back up the parking lot to put my cart in the corral....when i walked back towards my car i saw the dent!

going tonight for the estimate, I'll update afterwards!

Re: so pissed!!

Some people just dont care about their cars the way we do. It almost makes me not want to buy a nice car because I'm always afraid of someone else's carelessness. Sorry to hear about this.

Re: so pissed!!

Back in 2000 I bought my first brand new car, the car was 3 months old. I was driving through the streets of Philadelphia about 1am on my way home from a party. I stopped a a red light and heard a large crash on the top of my car. I get out and see a bunch of punk kids running down the street, so I am like what the hell just happened, I look down and see a red brick laying next to my brand new car, so now I am like please don't tell me they just hit my car with that brick. Sure enough I had a 2" long gash through the metal on the roof between the windshield and sunroof. I circled around the block a few times but could not find the kids. Cost $1800 for the repair. 2" back and the brick would have come right thru the sunroof and who knows what would have happen to me. It sure does not pay to own a new car in a city.

And and a quarter size piece of paint missing down to the
Metal! It doesnt look like a dent from another car.....there is no
Other paint on my jeep.....it looks more like a runaway cart going at a high
Rate of speed! Soooo annoying when something happens
To your 4 month old jeep and im not even around......if people would just
Put their f**ing cart back where they came from!!
Sorry to hear that! How terrible. I remember when I first purchased my WJ years ago. I parked it away from everyone at an outlet mall. I came back to find that someone had dented the door of my new car probably by kicking their door out as hard as they could. I was really mad considering the car was left alone and of course others had to park right next to it because, hey, it's all alone. The people I purchased the Jeep from tried to get the dent out but left a lousy job. I lived with it for 9 years.

Re: so pissed!!

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Parking lots are the real wild west. I was just noticing today how much the GC stands out in a parking lot full of Corollas. Some jerks might resent how great our rides look.

Re: so pissed!!

I had a similar thing happen to my last car...a 2009 Subaru Forester XT Limited. It was only 5 months old and I was leaving a Costco parking lot on (also on Long Island), and a runaway cart T-Bones my passenger side front door while I was in the car! i couldn't believe it! I jumped out of the car and looked around but couldn't tell who did it, and I feel like it was intentional. It really sucked, but I left the damage until the lease was almost up. I'm so nervous about something happening like that to my brand new JGC!

Re: so pissed!!

It is too late now, but you could have went into the store and reported the damage to the manager. I know here (in Florida), I have personally seen multiple people (over the years) report damage to the store from carts. Obviously, if you leave you can't come back days/weeks later to report it. The store has insurance to cover incidents like that.

Re: so pissed!!

Sorry to hear about the damage.

I sympathize as I too take great pains to park away from potential trouble spots.
I do the same things you do, and never park beside mini-vans (they usually contain kids who couldn't care less, etc) or 2-door cars.

Nope, its a shame.
I'd spend the money to fix it up 100% because you'll always be looking at that spot now, and if its not perfect it will always bug you.

Re: so pissed!!

ok so i got my estimate.....$550. Not as bad as i thought it was going to be. I guess because its such a new vehicle and the most expensive i've ever purchased, not to mention my most favorite vehicle i've ever owned...........when you see the damage you just think it's so horrible and going to be really expensive to fix. I just feel like my poor jeep is injured..........LOL! They said it definitely looks like a really nasty cart dent, it would be bigger if it was from a car. We aren't even going to bother with insurance since we have a $500 deductible anyway. They also said they would only have the jeep for two days max
