Re: So...Rechargeable Flashlight + Xtra Storage = No Spare Rim?

Oddly the manual says to store the spare tire "beauty side up" but only way to have it in and tied down is how it comes from the factory ... side down....no biggie though since it isn't a matching spare.

Call the dealer and order a wheel, judging from your posts, you'll enjoy having it more than I do.
my mom has an escalade that was $60+ new, she has the platinum, with the 20" wheels, it came with an 18" black spare

Green, I was wondering what more expensive suv makers did for spares. Kind of surprised to hear that about caddy. I guess they all do it. Do any auto makers give out full size spares with matching wheel? Not that it matters but curious....

Re: So...Rechargeable Flashlight + Xtra Storage = No Spare Rim?

I don't even know what my spare looks like, and i'm not going to freak about it either haha. it is put in the underside of the trunk for a reason... if they were meant to be cared about, you'd strap it into the passenger seat next to you.

Thing is, will a 20" stock tire and rim fit into the Overland's spare tire's well?
No, a stock tire and rim will not. I measured that on an Overland at the dealer. The spare is about 2" thinner and it just barely fits in the well vertically.

It's another slightly annoying thing about the new WK2. I'm used to an identical spare in my 1997 JGC - and it sure came in handy when I cut a tire while out four-wheeling. I was deep in the backcountry and had plenty of rock-crawling to do to get home -- so I appreciated the full-size spare and tire.

I think that before I do any serious four-wheeling with my Summit I will need to buy another full-size wheel and put another LTX AT/2 on it. Then I'll keep it in the garage when not going on a backcountry trip.

At the moment, I have an overhead tire mount that fits on my ZJ rails. I use it to make extra room by taking the tire out of the left side of the rear cargo area.

It would be nice to get something similar for the WK2 - then I could stick the real spare on the roof for any long trip that might involve backcountry work. I'm pretty sure my existing tire mount won't work with the new WK2 roof side rails.
