Re: So what's going to happen to '11-'13 values when '14 comes out?

<?> of course the price will decline. The general public is mostly uninformed of the changes and the price decrease will only be normal. In ~6-9 months the 11-13 prices will take a bigger hit, by then even the new sales people and public will realize the changes. There will also be some 14's run through the auctions.

If I owned a 11-13, I would try and work the #'s to trade up this spring. You might be surprised how little it costs to upgrade (SRT's are taking a bigger hit).

I think you're just going to see normal depreciation. It's not like a massive change of vehicle, it's a new transmission with minimally better fuel economy, and a larger touchscreen.

WKs are still moving along with their resale like the WK2 wasn't introduced.

We know this because the lease residuals didn't take into account a massive drop in resale value for the GC. The banks aren't going to lose money on all those trucks they leased, so you can bet that the impact of the 2014 will be minimal on resale values.

Now what will be a bargain in the near future are Range Rovers, as the new one that is massively improved is out, and the customer base for the RR doesn't like being outdated and has no problem taking a big hit to be in "The New Range Rover".

Got the new '14 with 1% under invoice as well. No ground breaking deal here, but I was happy with it.
I have a 14 Summit 4X4 V8 on order for invoice minus the holdback (2.96%) from the dealer I got my current 2012 Overland 4X4 V8 w/ACC. Vehicle only has 5,400 miles on it, not a nick on it, so for the heck of it today I stopped by to get an idea what its worth on a trade. $35,000. I paid invoice minus the holdback (2.96%) and at the time got a 1K rebate.

I wish there was a classified section here for used Jeep's.

That's a low ball offer. You can negotiate that up a few thousand dollars.

Thanks. I hope they will go up a couple grand otherwise I may cancel and find another dealer and start the order process over again. I have time since my plates don't expire till November. By then, Jeep will no doubt have some rebates on the 14's.

Total low ball offer. My 11 v8 Overland with adaptive cruise with 30k miles is worth just under that.

Thanks, but will a dealer give you just under $35K on your trade in towards a new 14 WK2 that you got for invoice minus dealer holdback? That's my question.
I welcome all replys.

Probably not. They're there to make money. And if they do, they're going to take a few extra points of interest on top of what you qualify for.

The dealers make their money, every time. If they're not going to make it when they sell you the car, they're going to make it up by giving you less for your trade. Then they'll make it up again selling your trade.

It'd be nice if cars were sold in a more retail fashion, without all the dealership/franchise crap and the manufacturers could just set the price, and the cars would be sold at that, by non commission people.

Sort of like CarMax. FWIW, owns a CJD dealership and a Nissan dealership.

Re: So what's going to happen to '11-'13 values when '14 comes out?

New cars depreciate, and the first two years are brutal. It does not matter what we think our cars are worth. What matters is the price (trade-in, private party etc.) that someone is willing to pay.

Take a look at eBay - WK2 2011s for sale. These are asking prices, and you can easily negotiate another 5% off. Trade-in values will be substantially less, given that the dealer has to inventory (carrying cost), prepare, and then sell the car at a profit.
