Check your rims too, i was looking for a way to take off my tow package (i know strange) and happend to look over at my rims and in the wheel pocket it said "made in China". I know my window sticker says parts may be made and assembled in Canada or Mexico but nowhere does it say China. Jeep is no longer an American brand... which is fine but they need to start adding China to the made in Canada and Mexico list on the window sticker. Still I love Jeep!
I realised this some time ago, what caught my eye with the jeep parts is the mopar site, the photos of skid plates are identical to those shown on the chinese distributors website, tadaaaaaaa not surprised mind you. Of course these companies dont manufacturer their own parts these days, more to the point is a group could get together and import some really cheap parts for themselves in bulk.
Microprocessors and other circuit chips used in US fighter jet/US Navy ships technology was built in China! Of course, there is cause for concern by cyber-experts about suspicion of spying on our military technology through those chips. So maybe we don't do that anymore!
I don't know of any mfg's that don't have many parts from China. Even the almighty Harley Davidson has been using parts and accessories from China for years. Nothing new in this global economy.
You gentleman just helped me make a desision on my skid plates.... RRO! Made in USA... (Even though the steel to make them was probably sent over from china)
