The Koons group buy was simple and easy. They called and said my Jeep was in, flew up the next day, they picked me up at the airport close by and took a look at the Jeep, and did all the paperwork in less than 1.5 hours actually at the dealership. Even had a full tank of gas! Will do it again if I order a 2017, no hesitation whatsoever.

Skid plates are also good insurance if anything gets kicked up off the road and you go over it. It's not hard to puncture an unprotected plastic gas tank.

The 5 factory skids are a good deal at the $295(less when you factor the discount in). slide under and look at those two big plastic gas tanks hanging there and you will want them even if you are not a heavy off roader. there was a guy on here whos wife hit some road debris and tore a hole in one dumping gas all over the road. If you try to add them later the dealer will charge you more than twice that much to put them on. If I remember right I paid like $450 3 years ago just for the parts when I put them on my summit because they did not offer them on summit at the time. They are not a must to have but its a small amount of money considering how much you are spending for the jeep

Thank you for the post, definitely helped solidify my thought to get them, they are cheap and will help protect from anything I may run over.

Considering it's a $5K option I'm guessing they'll keep it for special orders for the most part. I'm not even looking for a new rig since I just got my 2015 Summit a year ago but I absolutely love that new Laguna leather pattern upgrade. I was just hoping they would offer the leather stitching pattern in other colors but I'm guessing it's only in the Indigo/Ski Grey. One big drawback to that light color is that it will show every bit of dirt especially coming from clothes, but I totally get your situation living in Florida.

Overall that price looks pretty fair to me considering it would put you at $1,500 below invoice and $5K under MSRP.

Good luck with the process and let us know what you decide.
If the leather color is like my 2013 MDX, your denim jean dye will rub off onto the seat.

Neighbor of mine had the same issue with a Chevy p/u. I have it with a tan Ford interior, but it wipes off. I guess all the manufacturers use the same cows.

Kind of off subject...Does anyone else think that the wheels they are putting on the new Summit are ugly as hell?

I think we drifted off subject at least a page ago.

I like the wheels. And I think they look better in person than in pictures. But then again, I like the new Grey interior.

I think the wheels are not terrible but not an improvement either

New Front Fascia is plus
New Fog Lights are plus
Wheels are a wash
Interior quilt work is a minus but at least you can opt not to get it

Re: Solid Deal on a Summit?

I don't think they are ugly, but I do think they are much "softer". By that I mean they are trying to appeal more to women buyers and drivers by changing the rims to make it look more like a soccer Mom mobile. Since many buyers have bailed on minivans they are buying more and more SUVs and crossovers so most of the newer vehicles in these segments today are boring and soft in appearance.

The rims would be a major pain to clean I know that much. I love mine on my 2015 Summit and I think they are the perfect combination between luxury and sport aggressive. Here's a pic of my rig. Love the rims but wish it had the Platinum pkg to cut down on some of the fake chrome everywhere.

I didn't like the 20's on my 2015 Overland when I first got them and preferred the 15's on my 2014 limited and I almost swapped them. But over time I grew to really like them. They stayed clean were easy to clean and looked good. I feel the same way about the new Summit wheels and I considered swapping. But I'm hoping they grow on me (along with the grill).
